Today I had my big-bucks $40 200 disc CD player on random when "The Holy Ground" by Montreal's High Dials came on,I rushed to the player and hit the "Repeat Track" button and proceeded to listen to it for over 2 hours-I only stopped it when my Missus got home. There are several songs but not many that I can do that with:"Submarine Dream" by Apples in Stereo,"I'll Be Back",This Boy" by The Beatles,"Voodoo Child (slight return)""Little Wing","Angel" by Jimi Hendrix,"Waltz No.2" by Elliott Smith,"Chicago X 12" by Rogue Wave,"It's a Beautiful Life" by Ottawa's Amos The Transparen,"Whose Authority" by Nada Surf and "Smile a Little Smile" (Rosemarie) by The Flying Machine.Am I the only music addict with this affliction or are there others with this musical quirk? Bach's "Toccata and Fugue in D Min." Handel's "Dixit Dominus" " and Allegri's "Miserere" have gotten the same treatment too,so it's not only limited to rock and alternative music. I can only do this when I'm home alone, of course one summer afternoon about 25 years ago, about a dozen of the guys were sitting in our favourite watering hole with "Little Red Riding Hood" by Sam The Sham and The Pharoahs on repeat for about 2 hours but we were full of beer.

Well, I don't know if I could listen to any song over and over, but there's one song that sounds good every time I hear it. That is, The Romantics, What I Like About You. If it doesn't at least get you tapping a toe, you're officially dead and don't know it.

I would go out and say that this is probably my favorite song of all time. It's a complete journey and I'll never get tired of listening to it. What a masterpiece.

I know what you mean about DarkSide..... I played that album so much that I actually did get tired of it but I can listen to it again now.

would have been easier to pick a song I never need to hear again. Staying on topic I will say Shine On You Crazy Diamond...All parts.

Not very many and they tend to be tunes that I liked when I was younger that have stayed with me. Just off the top of my head, these spring to mind ...

  • Deep Purple - live version of Black Night
  • Richard Thompson - Turning of the tide
  • Brendan Croker - Railroad Blues
  • Selena ft. David Byrne - Baila conmigo
  • REM - Stand

... and probably half a dozen others

and this

I'm going to stir the hornets' nest by adding anything by Jimi Hendrix to that list.

Every song off of ZZ Top's "Rio Grande Mud" and "Tres Hombres".
