I never thought I would see the day that Fender Co. would stand behind a Fender authorized repair station in North Sacramento, Ca that damaged my flawless 2004 Fender Stratocaster MIM. Fender took 6 months to ship a warranty replacement body to the Fender authorized repair station in North Sacramento, Ca. that had worse paint problems than the original body that was being warranteed. Then the repair station stripped out two of the pickguard screw holes which chipped the paint off these two holes to the size of a dime. While the repairman was at his handy craft he felt compelled to drill extra screw holes for the input jack plate. He wasn't done yet, The repairman then couldn't get the neck to sit into the neck pocket correctly so he took an exacto knife and started carving on the neck pocket sidewalls till the neck was sitting in the neck pocket the best he saw fit. In the end Fender put the blame on the Fender authorized repair station in North Sacramento, Ca. and they in turn put the blame on ME for removing a few pickguard screws to slightly lift the pickguard to see if I could locate the reason for the signal to cut in and out saying I voided the repair warranty that they did. I have notified both Fender and the Fender authorized repair station in North Sacramento, Ca. to the point that communications have ended. In the end it was a nice last blow the shins when the Fender authorized repair station in North Sacramento, Ca. sent my once flawless guitar back to me in a single cardboard box with zero packing at all resulting in more damage to my guitar. Thank you Fender for not standing behind the customer and not even having the guts to stand up to one of your Fender authorized repair stations in North Sacramento, Ca..

Your story sure doesn't make me want to buy a Fender anytime soon. :(

I'm a firm believe in the idea that there are two sides to every story. I don't want to discredit the guy, but really, most companies don't stop taking calls or responding over a defective product.

I'm guessing they think that the poster was responsible for the damage and articulated that.

Hey! Ya know what? That guitar is gonna be very, very valuable some day. That guitar has been officially modded and customized by Fender, complete with some relic work and an improved body/neck joint that is basically still in the developmental stages right now but shows promise to be an amazing improvement over stock. Hell... It's practically a C/S job now. I don't know why I never get to have those kinds of "special" instruments.

Dude, you must be the luckiest guy on earth. Whatever you did to get them to do that for you, just keep on doing it. You just know it's gonna take you far in life. I mean look what it already did for you. Keep it up, bro. Fate is sure to reward your efforts and give you exactly what you deserve.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

"In other news today, Fender Musical Instruments has decided to reduce the cost of the famous Custom Shop line of guitars. Through a new relic process, the guitar is brought to the elite status being shipped to the customer in limited packaging!"

Let's have a poll, who thinks the OP is ever going to come back to this forum and update this thread?

and what was the point of posting this here? This story smells like B.S. to me, I could go post the same story on all the other guitar forums - would that make it true? The reason you are getting bad service is probably because you go about things all wrong.

If the guitar was flawless, as you state, why was there a warranty claim?

Am I the only person that sees something wrong with that scenario?

I really do wish that my story was B.S. that way I could my guitar back the way it was originally. I have all the emails sent to fender and the repair station and I kept a journal of all phone conversations. you are right that there is two sides to every story. I am telling the truth and I have tried to keep it simple and not blow things out of proportion. To minnesotastrings, Fender guitars are awesome guitars and my situation was uncommon I hope. If you were going to buy a Fender Strat, Please buy one, They are awesome and you will very happy. I went to G.C. after 9 months of being jerked around by Fender and a small guitar store/Repair station in North Sacramento, ca. and bought a brand new American Fender Stratocaster with maple fingerboard with Fender locking tuners and sienna burst covered ash body. It is such an awesome guitar. I was unlucky with my warranty guitar but it came around full circle for me, I got my brand new $1500 American Fender Stratocaster with maple fingerboard and sienna burst body for $759.00 by accident on G.C. part thru a grand opening sale and a 20% off coupon. I have never hated Fender or the Repair station for blaming each other and then finally blaming me to put an end to it. I'm happy now thats all that matters and still loving Fender Strats!

The reason for a warranty claim originally was that the paint had started to lift off of the body on the front of the neck pocket. It didn't crack, flake or warp, Etc.. The paint just separated from the wood leaving about a 1/16" gap between the wood and the white paint.
