I went to the liquor store to buy some beer and I was actually asked for I.D. I said that was flattering, since I'm actually 41 years old and I've been of legal age for 20 years. The cashier was really surprised considering she said she was around the same age. I guess you can call it good genetics. 8)

I'm in kind of the same boat. I'm 38 but probably look closer to 28. I'm still ID'd occassionally. It depends upon the context: when I'm out with my wife and daughter, I'm never proofed. When I'm out at a concert or whatever, I usually am.

I will never complain about being ID'd, though. Like you, I take it as a compliment!

I don't think she was hitting on me, but she was new at her job, so was probably being cautious and didn't recognize me like other workers might. She actually seemed kind of weird about it afterward. Maybe she was spacing out, I don't know. I believe the usual protocol for a lot of places is to card when somebody looks under 30. I used to smoke when I was in my 20's, off and on, and I was carded for cigarettes when I was 25. Still, it doesn't bother me.

I am 43, and I thought I looked about that age until I recently saw some high school classmates...they literally look like they're in their mid-fifties...people tell me I look mid-30's, but I generally assume they're being nice.

Outside of greyer hair, I actually look younger than I did seven years ago; I've lost weight, I eat better and generally live healthier than then.

Lady Armadillo looks significantly younger than me; in reality, she's only 1 year and 4 months younger. When she was pregnant with the Armadillo Fetus (now Armadillo 'Tween), people often thought she was a pregnant teen (even though she turned 30 mid-term)...they looked at me like I was a dirty old man...which made me proud. :P

I know what you mean. I know a guy who's only 3 months older than me, but looks 15 years older. I think a lot of it can also do with stress in people's lives. This guy is in a miserable marriage and not a happy person. He doesn't have any kids, but they have a house together. I know a lot of people will stay in bad marriages or relationships because of financial reasons. Luckily, I've managed to avoid such pitfalls in my life, but came damn close a long time ago. I think doing what you love to do (like playing music) keeps you young.

The grocery store around me cards everyone regardless of age. It's store policy.

Yeah they probably do that to avoid any legal issues, ridiculous though it may seem.

I really think age is just a number. Look at Mick Jagger, he's probably pushing 70 and he still gets out there and moves his $@! around.

I get carded all the time.

The good feeling wears off after a bit.
