That's like complimenting someone for moving their bowels regularly... :P

You know as we get older this gets harder and harder...

at rehearsals, I go with 'close enough for rock & roll'.

Our singer says "you don't have to tune up, we're a punk band" (to the audience) when I check tuning on stage.

Close enough for rock'n'roll is about right though. As long as you're happy with it. Prime example is a 12 string guitar. Get the octave strings perfectly in tune and the double sound strings perfectly in tune to their counterparts. And it sounds horrible.
When they're very slightly off, they sound really deep and vibrant.

Also it is quite possible that one might
rock out with friends, and at home take on say
a Bach prelude.
I only freak with intonation when playing
Renaissance stuff on my acoustic steel string.

With The Belly-Saurus, I couldn´t care less.
I sing on that lame Saturday Dad´s band and my
Strat gets tuned once and off we go. :D

And who are we to judge art?

I could fling poo to the wall and call it art. Wouldn't you judge that for what it is?
