Most of this afternoon I was on the computer looking for two books that I've been meaning to get for quite some time so I decided that the time is now to do something about it.The books that I'm looking for are:"Vox Amplifiers:The JMI Years" by Jim Elyea and "The Vox Story-A Complete History of a Legend" by David Peterson and Dick Denney. Every place I tried had the books at reasonable prices but the shipping costs were at least 60% the cost of the books or in several cases even more. This is strange because I have ordered bigger and heavier items from the U.S. that didn't cost as much for shipping and have even had U.S. orders shipped free of charge. The books aren't available in Canada, however I did find one place but the cost of the same book was more than the cost of the same book plus shipping from any U.S. source.Does anyone know where I can find these books for a price that isn't higher than the price of an actual Vox amp? Any leads to a reasonable site would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys.

Yes those books are very expensive now on Amazon if you can find them , I'm sure you look at E-Bay.

These are print from many years.
I have a lots of these kind of book , not those one . I always buy them when first time on the market. I know that Steve's Music in Montreal , where I live, have many books like that , I bought a lots there. If you are very lucky they could have one ?

Good luck Canadian brother.

Why does shipping to Canada so expensive? It's not like you're on some remote island somewhere. I've always noticed a long time ago that most books or magazines I'd buy charge an extra $2 for Canada customers. Is there some sort of import tariff or something?

It usually has to do with the courier company. Fed-Ex, UPS and the like. They charge a "brokerage" fee to bring stuff across the border. I've looked into it and there are no charges incurred by Customs Canada to clear items for crossing the border. It's just a way for the couriers to rip you off. Now, whenever I make a cross border purchase I always ask that they send it via USPS. Niether of the two postal services invloved, USA or Canada, charges you those fees.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

Oh, OK. I suppose they do that since you are another country, they'd take advantage of that. Figures.
