Steven Segal came to my mind too as it did to a previous poster but there is something else too about him besides him being a far better than average guitarist he has an enormous collection of Strats.Russel Crowe is also a talented musician and songwriter and has played here in Newfoundland several times with his close friend and sometimes co-star Alan Doyle from "Great Big Sea".I may be mistaken but they are either planning releasing an album unless they have already released it because they have been talking about a project together for quite some time.

BTW: Keifer Sutherland never once was considered-even if Gibson did feel that he warrants having his own signature guitar:The Keifer Sutherland S.G. and that is no joke-even though it is laughable.

I assume the guitar has a CTU logo inlaid on the headstock.

Nobody has mentioned Glen Campbell...so I will. Plays guitar and other instruments superbly and had the role of the Texas Ranger opposite John Wayne's Rooster Cogburn in the original version of True Grit in 1969. He also had the lead role in Norwood the following year. Still performed, even with Alzheimer's up until late last year.

As long as we're mentioning musicians who happened to be in a movie or two (like Glen Campbell), how can we forget Rick Nelson, who also starred opposite John Wayne and Dean Martin in what might be my favorite movie, Rio Bravo?

I'm pretty sure Rick Nelson is a great call and should have been on my list also. He was in over 400 TV episodes of "Ozzie & Harriet" and many of them ended with him performing. This made him a music star. Before that he did appearances on the radio show by the same name. Ozzie Nelson actually was a band leader and Rick's sons Matthew and Gunnar of Nelson had a hit single making them the 3rd generation of the same family to make hit records. That might be some kind of record maybe.

Oh yes! I have to say the guys in Spinal Tap can play and act too!

Also . . . . let's not forget punk rocker Lee Ving of FEAR. . . . He played in some B-grade type movies. His roles were always bully types . . . ie. . . . Flash Dance . . . Dudes . . . he even played in criminal line up scene in the late 70's sit com Three's Company!

And to top it off, he has a great voice!

It's a shame Busey was playing a 70's Strat with the big headstock because he did do a fine job as Buddy Holly.

Hi 63 Supro, the 70s Strat in the Buddy Holly Story isn't the only historical faux pas in the movie industry to do with an instrument. In "Back to the Future" Michael J. Fox picked up a Gibson 335 and played it in the movie that was set in 1955 when the 335 wasn't released until 3 years later in 1958.

Re Ricky Nelson: I have a 12 DVD set of classic TV series from the 50s and early 60s and there are several episodes of Ozzie and Harriet in which Ricky plays and sings. He played a parlor sized Martin I believe because I haven't looked at them for quite some time and I'm not 100% sure.

The 335 didn't bother me as much as the Strat. Maybe the Flux Capacitor had something to do with the 335

There's also the Monkees, which was some musicians who became actors, and some actors who became musicians, or whatever the hell it was. I actually had the two albums they did on their own on vinyl. I got them from my older brother.
