Not sure if anyone on here has heard about the flooding happening here in Calgary, and the rest of Alberta, but it is unbelievable. Over 20 communities have been evacuated (just in Calgary)!
Here are some photos, and videos: http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/nat ... e12739881/

Rumour has it that the entire city could lose all power/electricity at any moment. Also, there is speculation that we will need to boil our water to ensure that it is not contaminated.

If there is anyone on here that lives in Alberta, stay safe!

I had to evacuate, my place is under 3 feet of water. I got my main strat out, and everything else is on the top floor, so i am hoping for the best.

I hope that the flood damage to your home is minimal Twelvebar. It seems that every year the floods in Alberta are worse than the previous year.I don't know if all of this is due to global warming but it certainly makes you wonder.I heard on the supper hour news that Stephen Harper visited Alberta today and viewed the flooded areas and he pledged assistance to people who were affected by the floods.Of course we all know that he often renegs on his promises,I hope that's not the case with the flooding issue.Take Care-glad that you got your Strat out.Cheers.

I hope you found some place nice to stay, and not being forced to sleep in one of evacuation centers.
I live about a 5 minute walk away from the bow river, but luckily it's a very steep hill so we have avoided any flooding.

Anyways, stay safe Twelvebar!

oh man, looks familiar. I had one aunt and one uncle lose pretty much everything in Hurricane Sandy. Just devastating. So sorry to see it happen in Calgary.

Oh wow. Flood damage is so dispiriting to come back to, I distantly remember. A lot of friendly feeling coming to you from far away, Twelvebar. I hope it's as unbad as it can be.

Molly safe, I trust?

Good vibes flowing to everyone involved. Stay safe.

Cheers - C

My girlfriend told me about this, and now she was saying Minnesota is getting some bad weather with hail and everything. Good luck and be safe.

I think it is all but certain my house will be condemned after this, it was an older place and not in the best repair already. But I only rent, so it could be worse<more below>

Molly and I are safe. We're in a place I can start renting immediately if I need to, and frankly it's so nice I would probably have put in notice at my old place and moved if I came across this place even without a flood. It's the same price range, but way nicer, and it has some pretty ideal room to work on guitar projects (like my old place used to have before the issued I ran into.)

There's no flood insurance in my province, so anything I lose will be a total loss.

But I am safe, and my pet is safe, anything else is an excuse to get new stuff.

thanks for all the best wishes, my real concerns are moisture damage to my new big screen TV, and I can't remember if I got the Marshall Class 5 and the Fender Champion 600 up high.

Glad to hear you are safe, that is far and away the most important thing. Hopefully the new place works out and your electronics are safe or salvageable. Wishing you all the best for a quick recovery!

Just got home from North Van. I was planning to take Hwy 3 and stop in the BC interior to see some family and friends but I would have been stranded there had I done so. Yellowhead is the only route east/west still open. Woulda had to backtrack all the way to Kamloops. The pics and vids on FB look horrendous particularly around Canmore. Ex girlfriend of mine from back in the day lives there. Says the new house she and her husband are almost finished building is poised to slide into the river. Part of her back yard is already eaten away. One of the bridges on the number one is missing the approach ramps. Washed away.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

I've been following this, and it is way beyond anything I've seen for Alberta before.
Usually it's in a smaller area of the province and the flooding is not as serious (Still not fun for the people affected)
So this is just wild.

Some people apparently had more time to evacuate than others--and people in Medicine Hat have had a more time, as they know it's coming.

Glad to hear Twelvebar is safe, and got a guitar out, and the others to higher ground.

Not much else you can do.
