Personally, I don't like them because of the black pickguard. The only Fender guitar that needs a black pickguard is the yellowish Tele like the one Keith Richards has.

No matter what guitar/bass, I always prefer the look of a satin finish.

Some of the yellow and gold ones are a bit too yellowy for me but the Flame Orange Teles and Strats are just beautiful.

My pick is the Ocean Blue Candy,...even though the Strat I have now is brown sunburst,...if I get another Telecaster,I'm going with the blue one. That satin finish looks nice!

I agree...there's only a few colors/finishes that can adequately wear a black pickguard...

Other than that, I like the satin finishes; my Epiphone Special P-90 has a satin TV Yellow-esque finish, and it looks cooooool. 8)

Nope, sorry Mike, gotta disagree.

It's not satin, it's chromium blue and the black pickguard is perfect for it. The picture doesn't really do it justice. :(

I do kind of like the blue and purple satin finishes.

I saw the Satin Blue Strat posted on Facebook a couple of Days ago and I found it to be striking. That Strat was almost exactly the same shade as the Candy Apple Blue that I refinished my '65 Mustang in,after the original owner had stripped it down and haphazardly varnished it with what must have been an old brush.I'd love to see it in a brilliant green or orange.

I just checked em out, and I like. Not too long ago here, someone was crying that Fender never introduces new colors, well here they are. Look better with the maple neck, at least in my eyes. I like the Arizona sun, and Blaze gold best.

I like natural wood matte or flat finishes. My Amer. Standard Tele is clear gloss natural. I put up with it.

Not a hard stance, just a preference. A little more money might see me search of the right sea-green, teal, or turquoise Tele. The quest for more gear has not yet ended.

I like natural wood also, never was much for flash, bu I do like these satin colors, not too out there. Except for my surf green, everything else I own is rather toned down normal colors. I don't know if I would purchase one of these, but they do have some pop.

I love em.. !!

Not trying to diss anyone here, I truly appreciate the many fine examples of flamed, figured and natural gits many have displayed here, but my preference has always been to solid color guitars.

Odd too because I spent 25 years hobbying as a furniture maker. Large pieces such as chests, tables, large chairs, etc. using beautifully figured woods such as Indian Teak, Zebrawood, Brazillian Rosewood, Walnut, etc. (back when these were somewhat affordable).

But for guitars, I've always preferred solid colors... don't really know why. My Strat is Candy Apple Red, my Tele is Arctic White, my Heritage H-535 is Gloss Black... by choice. It's just what grabs me.

Only my acoustics are Natural or Sunburst and that's because finish isn't as important to me on acoustic guitars so it wasn't a factor at all in choosing what I have.

This is an opinion thread, so there are no wrongs answers... this is mine. :D

cheers!

Not my cup of tea. Just another excuse for Fender to drain the consumer's wallet IMO.

I don't think they're trying anything so greedy or sinister; there's been a lot of people who clamor for "something different," and these axes certainly fit that bill. Nobody is being forced to buy these instruments (I.e., having their wallets "drained").

After looking at them, I like the colors themselves, but I'm not crazy about the pickup covers/pickguards on the Strats...the Telecasters look cool...if the pickup covers and knobs on the Strats were white/aged white, I think they would look better.

But this is JMHO, and YMMV...
