It's fun to use a phone from 1969, so cool looking! And the way it's so physical to put your finger in the hole and push the dial, man that takes me back. But would I want to use one all the time? Not so much.

Smart phones are nifty little devices but they often are terrible phones.

I remember those quite well. That particular one is only two years older than me. Ours was beige, and I think we had a black one, too. I never seen a green one, though. Maybe because my parents were a lot older than the 60's generation and it would have been too "far out" for them. :P

Old school is always best! I'd rather have the old green phone than one of those BS mobile devices that tracks you everywhere you go! Believe it; technology is now owning you not the other way around!

Figures Arjay would have a rotary phone in Surf Green  BTW if that happens to be your phone number on the dial, you may want to remedy that

I wonder if a rotary phone even works anymore :?:
The clicks on the rotary phones used to send signals to the relays in the switching office which dialed the number. Nowadays it's like everything else all digital.

Sure, it will work on a POTS line. And yes, let's go back to that.

Wasn't sure if it would work with the 5ES or DMS switches being used today, however I left the Telephone company many years ago, when it became more of the entertainment industry. I took a buyout when the fiber took over what once was a really good gig.

They managed to nail Al Capone in the 1930's on tax evasion. Phone taps were doubtless a part of the prosecution's array of evidence.

True... but with local switching stations (used to be one for every 3-digit prefix), it certainly makes Big Brother's job much more difficult.

Besides, reverting to analog drops the 14 acres of NSA SuperComputers out of the Loop.

It would require so many people to monitor it all that obama would be seen as a Job Master !!

cheers!

EDIT: Ooops... I just realized I tripped an alert mentioning NSA and SuperComputer in the same sentence. Probably gonna get an IRS audit next year...

And the satisfaction of hanging up in someone by slamming the handset and hear the ding of the bell, is something many youngin's will never experience. :)

Here's my 2cents,
Go with a tube amp. If the guitar thing doesn't work out for you and you decide to sell, you will at least be able to recover most of the up front cost as opposed to a solid state. It's like resale value on a Mercedes versus a Hyundai. Now if it does work out for you, we'll then there's nothing like the feel and sound of a tube amp. JMO.
Hope this helps.
