Thought I was bad for guitar face but he's unbeatable

I think John Mayer and Jonny Lange have Santana beat by a long shot. Lange has more faces than notes

It could be either constipation or excess flatulence, too. Either way. :P

A boogie .22 caliber would be great and reliable. I also like Fender Hot Rods, but haven't owned one.

I've played with someone who was using a Hot Rod Deluxe 40 watt combo, and I thought it was really nice sounding. Actually, it's one of the amps I wanted to look into. Boogies are a little too much out of my budget, at the moment, sadly. I know a lot of folks like those.

I don't know how to work on tube amps...at all. The solid state amps with polarity switches are just about always fixable. I think the guys at Sam Ash thought there was something seriously wrong with my "new" TNT. All's they had to do was pull the electronics out the back..and clean her up, and they coulda charged $200. more for it. I've become a smart buyer over the years, being raised around musicians.

Anyway...you have to be more careful with Tube amps.

Not me, get it out the cupboard, get it to the gig, plug the speaker in, plug the mains in. Turn the gain middle and bass up full, volume 6. Play.

One of the many joys of the JCM range.

That's always fun, too. Speaking of electronics repair, that's something I'd like to look into learning how to do. I think it could be useful. Besides, I hate to see something just simply thrown away, when or if I had the means to fix it myself. I just hate to see waste, in general. Everything is so disposable and not made to last, these days. Besides, I'd think I'd get something out of knowing I was able to fix something, perhaps even build something.

Yeah and even the stuff that aint disposable is bloody hard to work on. Dunno what this solder is that amp manufacturers use these days but the stuff needs a chisel, not a soldering iron to shift it.
Marshall always used to cable from pots and sockets onto a very accessible circuitboard, right from 1973 up to 1990 odd. Opened my amp up and spent 5 minutes looking for where it said Intel Inside.

With these new computerized modeling amps, I'm surprised they don't say that. Pretty soon, you'll be able to check your e mail on your amp. :P The fear I've had with this, is the more stuff you have like this with your gear, the higher the chance of things to go wrong, especially in a live environment. It's really funny when you think about how they have all of this stuff, yet a lot of guitarists prefer what is essentially 100 or so year old technology. When you actually think of how long vacuum tubes (or valves, as they say across the pond) have been around.

Well yeah because with a good valve circuit you get unparalleled longevity. No joke, I'm using a 50 year old valve amp in my kitchen to plug my I-thing into. It cost me £20 and I've never heard vocals like it anywhere else. It's like the singer is in the room with you. The mids sound very detailed. The bass and treble are a bit underwhelming though. I put it down to the ancient Goodmans speaker.

Back in the late 80's when everyone was using rack gear, lots of people were claiming the end of valve technology. That was a golden age for solid state and some really good stuff was available then. I really don't think solid state has gone anywhere much since then. Taken more of a side step with digital processing.
Anyway valve technology didn't end and neither did the amps because, a valve goes you bin it and put a new one/pair/quad in. You can't do that with a transistor without getting seriously involved inside the amp.

No joke, look at this. The Blackstar HT100 Stage

Although it's a little better laid out and the only chip is the onboard noise surpressor, Marshall have gone to the dark side.

So can we assume your car doesn't have any computerized components?
