Hi all, last night I walked into L&M to pick up strings. I happened to see a really nice ash bodied tele hanging on the wall that piqued my interest enough to try it out. I immediately thought to myself how nice the neck was and was reminded of my maple neck MIJ Squier strat from the early 80s. I thought surely this was an American Vintage '52, but to my delight the tag showed it was a FSR MIJ '52 Telecaster for much less! I went home empty-handed that night so as not to rush things, but today it was stuck in my head all day. Long story short it's a New Tele Day:

Electronics were a lot better than my stock 80's MIJ strat were, however I plan on changing the pots and pickups to Texas Specials to give it some heat, in addition to a 4-way tele switch.

...and I just realised that I went with the same look as BMW-KTM's lovely new J Bass. It's a damn fine look, what can I say! :P

Sweet!

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

That is beautiful . I'm in the process of modding my Squier Affinity Butterscotch Tele in order to get that Vintage look and sound. I already installed a vintage style topload bridge that has the 3 Barrel saddle design along with Copper shielding in the pup and control cavities and a greasebucket tone kit. Now I'm going to see about getting some Kluson style tuners and a set of Vintage 50's pups as well.
