My NBD thead was deleted accidentally so here's a re-post of the pics.
Enjoy the guitar porn!

I'm also open to your suggestions about which pickguard to use to replace the stock guard.

i love the black pearloid mods. I have a natural Telecaster with the same black pick guard you have. I will get it done in the next few weeks. Might have to drill holes for the pup screws though.

It is a beautiful bass and I am sure it sounds great. Wizzy doesn't do envy, but I would really like one of those. :D

I celebrate your new instrument.

Thanks, Rollie!!

My USA Victor Bailey has sort of a similar pattern but no plate.

We need the FB "Like" button here.

Hooray for reposted threads!

I shall repeat my request for sound clips and restate my belief that there is no finer bass than a Jazz Bass.

Hey BMW-KTM; What a great Jazz. Great grain in the timber. Best of playing with it! Image

The Fender bass team really out did themselves with that Deluxe Jazz. I'd leave it stock, though.

+1 on leaving it stock.
If I had to pick one of the other guards though, I'd go with the black pearl.

Thanks guys!
Thing is, the pics don't seem to do it justice. In person it almost seems larger than life and the block inlays are really quite nice.

That's two votes I've counted so far for the pearloid plate. There was also a vote on the old thread. Kinda think it might have been Rollie but can't recall for certain. I like them both. I'm pretty sure I'll end up with the pearloid one in the end but I think I'm going to order both and choose which ever one goes with the inlays best.

This job seems to be lasting forever now that I have a new guitar to try out plugged in. I don't think I've ever been this anxious for a job to end so I can get home and thump.

But you can never get the pickguard back on exactly right like the factory does it. That's why I say leave her stock. The pickguard will bubble up.

Yeah - and that's three votes you count for leaving well alone. C'mon man - cuffs and collars gotta match! Black binding and inlays demand a black 'guard to go with.

With the maple neck and natural body that is the perfect livery for a Jazz Bass. I happen to have reason to think... 8)

Yikes, what's with all the extra controls, though? The heads of some of us are still back in '75 on this particular bass...

Cool, cool axe. Enjoy.

Cheers - C

Ahh ..... But if you look closely at the inlays they're a kind of pearloid too!

Zoom in a little.
There's a tiny little hint of blue in the pearloid which is why I'm considering the abalone one as well.

It doesn't show up as well in the pics as it does in person.
