Brad, I was just wondering. When you find time to play, do you still play your G&L's or stick with your Fenders? I know I might be putting you on the spot a bit but I tried to send you a PM but they are disabled here.

Thanks,

Bill

I agree, but that is what happens when you are the manager. But since he works for Fender, I am thinking that is a pretty sweet gig!

Uh-oh, I've been "outed." :-)) Yes, as you've no doubt already read, in my pre-Fender days I was quite the nutty G&L collector and had quite a sizable stable of 'em at my peak. I do still have a few of 'em including some rarities but -- no kiddin' -- I do truthfully turn toward FMIC product offerings far more often these days as my day-to-day players!

Yes, no complaints here -- it's a tremendous amount of work but I wouldn't trade it for anything!

OK. Objective question time! Don't you just love these?

Anywho; Since both were designed by Leo and George, in your objective and honest opinion, how do the G&Ls stand up to the Fenders? I don't know of anyone more qualified to give their opinion other than you.

Oh, and one more thing. Does the GBL LE sound as good as it looks?

Thanks!

Bill

In particular, I'd like to know how those Z-Coils stack up to Fender pickups like, Texas Specials for example.

With all due respect guys, let's give Brad a bit of space here and let him off the hook on these types of questions.

Thanks for the comment, prolux. I certainly make no apologies for my past and "where I've been", but ... we're talking a direct competitor to Fender here so naturally it's not a topic that I'd prefer to get into in TOO much depth here on this forum. We at FMIC certainly don't have blinders on and even the most senior VP's here openly acknowledge and embrace the fact that there's plenty of other quality gear out there -- I think the golden rule with any brand, be it Fender, G&L, you name it, is to PLAY the darned thing and see what it does for you!

Brad,

You are right and it was wrong of me to put you on the spot like that. My bad.

Sorry,

Bill

No worries at all. If nothing else you've managed to discover that I'm not a "suit" and actually do have relevant experience overseeing guitar-related enthusiast forums like this. We did some cool stuff back in the day on the site you discovered, and I'm hoping to get some activities of that nature happening here over time as well.

Brad,

That would be very cool. I like the whole registry thing! Just my $0.02.

Thanks,

Bill
