Two hits and you all are calling him Bob Dylan! .... :? .... The Everly Brother's ! :? Well I dont think anyone here is saying he's the new Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, etc. I was simply describing his voice and sound by making a comparison to the likes of Bob Dylan, and I'm sure the others were too. Dylan and Cash both had songwriting abilities and styles that will never be matched.

I've never bought a rolling stone and never will. It's all politics and advertising, with a little "music" thrown in.

Going a little off topic, in my opinion Rolling Stone Magazine is just a bunch a refined "groupies", eager to start relations with some musicians that show any interest in them.

There is still plenty of good new music out there. The problem is that regular radio is no longer the vehicle for bringing it to people's attention. I rely on satellite radio, Youtube's "suggested videos," and recommendations from friends for hearing new music. Being a busy dad, I don't delve as deeply as I might like, but there have been a lot of artists who've piqued my interest over the last couple years, including, just off the top of my head...

Tame Impala... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wycjnCCgUes
(an Australian psychelelic band, apparently pretty heavily influence by later-era Beatles)

Diane Birch... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z5XJxFtYEes
(singer-songwriter, literally the daughter of a preacher man, think Carole King. It's a shame she isn't better known than she is)

YOu may or may not like those individual artists, but at any rate I think there is a wealth of good new music out there bubbling under the surface.

It's a shame that FM radio is as terrible as it is right now. If stations got just a little more creative in their playlists, they might find their listening audiences paying attention again...

Er, no. His voice is reminiscent of Everlys and Donovan to me, did anyone ever suggest he was the 'new Dylan, Donovan etc'? No. I don't hear any cash myself, in his playing, and certainly not his singing.

There are Gallagher influences too, but if you listen to the whole album, his sound lacks any of the sneering edge Liam made his trademark. I've never bought, read or listened to RS. Their BS polls are enough to tell me it's a dinosaur of a publication struggling to stay relevant, cos it sure isn't hip anymore.

I no longer trust any of RS's album reviews -- I've bought more than one dud CD over the years that Rolling Stone's editors gushed over. And their 'best of' lists tend to be pretty dubious...
