Quick question for all of you, um here it goes; who looks bad with long hair? My answer's are: Men with just mustaches, men with glasses, Barbara Walters of the View, Alex Lifeson back in the early days of Rush and Richard Ashcroft formerly of The Verve in the early '90's. Can be either sex, any genre of entertainment and so on. Pic's are welcomed! [flapper]

Wanted: Good Barber

Makes a change from talking about spam, at any rate. :)

For starters, I want a good barber. For years and years I've been going to the same fella. Five minutes round the corner from my house, he's an old original mod from the '60s so understands my needs: I'd just plonk myself in his chair, he'd say, "the usual?", I'd say, "yep", and then we'd get on with chatting about The Who or whatever while I got the exact cut I wanted. Ideal.

Last week I showed up for my monthly trim - to find he'd suddenly closed up shop and retired. Nooooo! Now the tedious, tedious hunt is under way for a replacement. I've auditioned the first candidate: hm, no dice. :?

A-a-a-a-anyway... To the topic: I saw Helena Bonham Carter on a chat show the other day. Ever since she took up with Tim Burton she's been sporting the Edward Scissorhands look and, good grief, it ain't working!

Where I live the press calls these two the Mad Hatters. Guys, never mind a hair cut - correct use of a comb would be a start!

Peoples appearance, hmm, very awkward subject to discuss. Usually initiated by those not likely voted the most attractive in their group, picking on those unfortuate enough to be, shall we say imperfect by what ever the current look is. If one has difficulty looking at bodies or clothing styles, look in their eyes and listen to what they say, it is what is inside the person that counts. Is it not?

Ha. I must say, I like the spirit of that post. Good for you, SBLS: you're one of the nice guys. Keep us on the straight and narrow. :)

Haha - neither inside nor out, I'm afraid. And I definitely don't get to laugh at anyone else's looks - not even Helena Bonham Carter's hairdo.

I like what you said and I like the way you said it. Respect to you, sir! :D

Cheers - C

Yes, how mean spirited, I refuse to participate. And look, now you've hurt Lyle Lovett's feelings.

I have a condition called "Dandelion Head*"...left to it's own devices, my hair sticks straight out from my head, much like a dandelion gone to seed.

It's very difficult to find a barber, beautician or hairdresser that has any idea how to cut my hair. Most want to give me a clipper cut, which shreds my hair and makes it stick up even more. Therefore, I have to put a ton of gel in it to keep it in place.

If I let it get too long, I look like a televangelist. If it's cut too short, I look like a baby bird. My head is shaped somewhat like a hybrid of a large can of green beans (in front) and a lightbulb (in back), so shaving my head is out of question...and to top it off, I have a slightly receding hairline.

Therefore, I am destined to look strange for the rest of my life. Oh well. :|

I tend not to judge either.
