I hate hurting my guitars, and I'm sure other people do to, so post your worst guitar injury in hopes of making other people feel better about the injuries they have.

Probably the worst thing I ever did (when I was young with my first guitar) was when I took the neck off of my guitar then put it back on. Then later when I was playing, the neck fell off, the screws had stripped the wood, luckily my local store clerk fixed it free of charge!

Hello Power Chord King,

Tripped on the guitar cord,
pulled the guitar off the couch,
bent 1 tuning machine and
and broke the tune-o-matic bridge.

Cost about $100 to make it
right again, luckily no finish damage.

Cheers.

Installing new tuners and the headstock broke clean across all 6 tuner holes. It's a Fender, so it lived to play another day.

Accidentally dropped my acoustic to the floor and broke the neck clean off, nothing to do about it

On one of my other basses, when I went to take it off, I raised it up a little too high and struck the ceiling fan while it was on. Was left with a nice indention on the headstock. Battle Scar!

i have a 1969 mustang i'm constantly in the process of restoring. the motor was out and in pieces all over the garage. my brother and i were jamming late one night. the following morning i was carrying my water pump and timing cover assembly over to the engine. as i passed by my acoustic that was leaning up against a work bench, the water pump assembly slipped out of my hand an put a nice new sound hole in the front of my acoustic. it's a cheap guitar, and no major or structural damage. i laugh about it now.

i'm thinking about putting a "powered by Ford" graphic on the guitar... what do you think?

Dropped my '61 Gibson Melody Maker on a metal stool...like the ones train conductors use...Put a big scratch/dent in the side of it. No other damage to it. I was pretty freakin' thankful.

That's a good one

Worst damage has been my strap falling off my Greg Bennet bass while posing in front of a mirror at home a couple of years ago, sent it slamming into the wall and made a 1" * 1/2" crack in the finish on the bottom, near the input jack

My first guitar was a squier (i think that still is), but... i take out all the electric parts and steel parts, i screw off the neck and changed her from green to wood! then i replace all the parts carefully... Now i know, and i'm learning more about how to take care..

My friend once stepped on my acoustic guitar and broke it. He felt pretty bad but we both laughed when I told him it was a $20 guitar my dad bought from a client a few years ago. By then I had another acoustic, so I now hang the first one on the wall in my room right in between the Who and Jimi Hendrix poster (i wasn't thinking about it then but now i realize how fitting that is!)
