Very helpful Martian. Thanks for the link.

I guess all I can say is, this is a fine cocktail of all of the intangibles I like in single coils. As far as a crapshoot goes, it hit the pass line for me.

You're quite welcome. This whole business where of itself, "more resistance = more power" as far as any pickup is concerned is unfortunately in the "Infallible Web Dogma" fantasy world.

If only someone had told these folks all they needed was a multimeter, seems there's a bit more to it than that, I'm a total ignoramous on the science of pickups but this thread got my thought juices flowing and now after reading this I can safely say I'm a confused ignoramous :) I think you had to be there

another titbit explaining temperature variations and DC resistance also has a chart with single coil dc of 2.9 and 3.2, is the low reading maybe something to do with thicker gauge wire and less windings :?:

Yea, I can see where you're coming from with the dogmatic aspect of the reality of things. I can't say that I blame people for it though. Even at the Lollar website Ripitup555 posted (thank you by the way) they still list in their charts the resistance. And you'll notice that the numbers are higher in the bridge and descend as they go to Mid and Neck. The same with Duncan, and Dimarzio, and well just about any site.

If you look at one particular model, they'll give the resistance for both ( bridge and neck/middle) and I can't say I've ever seen that bridge resistance number lower than the neck. The trick becomes with mixing brands and models etc. it seems to be the only number to gauge by when that's mainly what they're giving you to do so.

Although I agree there's a dogma that exists (these pickups are a great example of it), I'd also have to say, I understand why it exists. It seems to me, the manufacturers created the dogma themselves more so than the people who try to gauge by it. I've been guilty of it many times.

I have an old lace transensor from the early to mid 90s and was thinking about tossing back in the bridge of my frankenstrat. Love the CS 69 neck but not thrilled with the 69 in the bridge. The Lace Trans felt a lettle smoother to my ears. Traded emails with Lace tech for specs out of curiosity since its no longer manufactured and was told the resistance was around 2.5 and contrary to what is said, you can mix lace pups with standards. I suppose because ther isn't really a coil in that pup there is less resistance so there went my attempt to try and compare it to other pups I was eyeing for the bridge based on resistance value.
