Maybe this is just one of those instances where "stuff" happens. Never, ever again will I buy anything from Musicians Friend - again. I know, I know, I'm sure there are some of you who are asking why I did in the first place? I thought I'd give it a go, I mean how bad could it be......this is how bad. I have wanted a '52 Vintage tele for awhile now, so I ordered one, it showed up.....only to have already been played, plastic removed from pickguard and all scratched up. I'm thinking, okay, just a mixup in the warehouse, so I set it back - the same day! I told the rep on the phone, for that amopunt of money I want to be the first to open it. I don't think that request is un-reasonable. So, I received another one after my exchange, this one arrived not double boxed and it wasn't even wrapped in plastic!!! I immediately thought, here I go again - sure as SH*T! This one was in even worst condition, so I sent it back. Demanding a full refund, it has now been 8 days and no refund, I just got off the phone with them and they assured me I would have my refund in 24-48 hrs., someone had given me a store credit instead by accident (yeah right)...so add another 2 days.
I guess my quest for a "new" in the box, never opened '52 vintage tele is on hold for awhile, until I can find a shop that has what I want. It has been a total of 4 weeks of hell.
I'm sure there are many success stories with happy endings, but this isn't one of them.

Darn dude, that sucks. I have never ordered anything offline, I usually go to my local shop and have them order something if I have to get it offline

Have you tried calling them again about it?

If they still wrong you, may I suggest you put a lawsuit on the $@! of Musicians Friend? Personally I always though that MF(hahah MF) was a total ripoff anyway.

I called them again and I was assured that my refund would be given in 24-48 hrs. I told the rep I talked to that if I don 't have it by then I'll be calling back AGAIN and next time I won't be as nice  . I guess I learned my lesson about ordering on line, I'm still learning after 48 years!! And all I wanted was a 52 tele.

Quite personally I don't trust those online shops. Every other review I've read about every other guitar says "The online service sucked, and the guitar always came in such a condition that it needed to be re-set up."

Really I just buy from a local music store or bust my bum to travel 4 hours to a Guitar Center store...Know you're getting a better deal because the guitars are already set up at the shop.

Well my friend.......that is exactly what I'm going to have to do in the future, the only good thing is, the closest Guitar Center or Sam Ash is an hour and a half away. I guess I should have done that to begin with.

Now I feel bad. I've ordered from musicians friend problem free for nearly a year. The only issue I had was with a banjo I ordered that didn't have the top screwed down before shipping.

I've had nothing but bad experiences with Musicians Friend. I've had the same horror stories as above. I once received a hollowbody electric. The box was smashed and the guitars pickups had been smashed thru the body. To make things worse they made me pay $75 to ship it back. Shop local and stay away from the jerks at GC & Musicians Friend.

Yes, I know GC is owned by MF. I guess the only positive is that at least you can look at what you're going to buy and get it on the terms you want. New in a box and not used. But I think I will have to search out another source for my guitar buying. As I said before, I do realize there are good experiences with MF, however, mine was not. or should I say, STILL is not.

I have ordered from MF in the past was very pleased with the guitars I got from them. However I have heard that over the past year or so of their sending off guitars in not so good condition and trying to pass them off as NEW.
Keep after them or you will not get satisfaction.

You just have to make sure the places you buy from online have a decent return policy.

I've bought two amps and three guitars from Musician's friend, as well as other accessories. I did this, just to save money on sales tax!

Anyway......All three guitars came in mint condition. The most recent, a Fender American Deluxe (which I love to death). I also have a friend that has purchased several guitars from Musician's Friend, and has had the same experience.

Now I've been to guitar center and have tried guitars there. It's there that I've noticed that the guitars have been played and had scratches. Another reason I ordered for Musician's Friend. I too, wanted a "virgin" guitar. I wanted to be the one to put any scratches on MY guitar.

Maybe I'm just one of the lucky ones..... But......until I get burned, I'll probably continue to do business with Musician's Friend.

I remember, at first, I was a bit nervous about doing business with an online service for a guitar. But I was pleasantly surprised with the perfect condition my guitars were in, when I received them.[/u]

I'm glad someone has had success, I truly am happy for you. I'm with you, I want to be the first to mark it up. Especially when you're paying a good amount of $$$$, although that really shouldn't matter either.
