Hi there everyone. I'm sure there isn't some huge conspiracy but I can't find anything about this on Google. I have a rig situation where I have some higher output guitars and lower output guitars, and right now I have to plan gigs in a way that I only use either high or low output guitars. I have to do this of course because I have to set my drive pedals up to accommodate for the drive volume matching the volume of the bypass guitar when I turn a drive on or off. How do players get by this problem, example, I've seen players like Johnson or Bonamassa changing between a Gibson or a Fender midset and I have no idea how they set up their drives to do this, especially considering EJ doesn't use a loop or any kind of midi control, just drives through to the amp. Could someone please shed some light on this. Regards Andy Charles.

Perhaps try a volume pedal. Or you could spend thousands on sound engineers like these guys. I would go with the volume pedal.

Yeah, either a volume pedal or some kind of clean boost would probably work.

Or you could do it the old fashioned way: Set everything for what you believe will be the most output, drive, etc. required for the gig and then back off the guitar's volume control(s) when full open isn't wanted. This worked for me for decades.

As always, this is merely IMO where YMMV.

Yeah these were my immediate thoughts as well, volume pedal, and such. I think a clean boost is going to be the answer to be honest, thanks for the MXR recommendation, it may have to just be something as simple as that. Cheers guys

Get a compressor. That'll help all your guitars not get past a certain level on the input stage of the amp.

If you want a solo boost for your amp, this works well and cost me £8 to do, that was including building the footswitch
