Thanks Mike.
Too many think of it only as BBQ day.
Too many confuse it with Veteran's Day.

This is a day to remember those who no longer have a chance to enjoy a BBQ with their family.

I would add Arlington National Cemetery and the war memorials in DC as well.

May all our departed, Rest in Peace and those that celebrate their freedom remember them forever.

Memorial Day is different in many ways for us in Canada and is shared on Canada Day, July 1.
https://www.timeanddate.com/holidays/ca ... morial-day

I spent time (7 years) as a service man on American bases and dockside beside American ships, and I rubbed shoulders with American sailors and Marines as the Vietnam War raged on. My mother and father were vets of WW II with my father having seen a lot of action and re-enlisting for Korea and completing his career in the military.

So, I am well aware of the pain and sacrifices and contributions made from and amongst our brothers and sisters on the other side of the border that we share.

My heart goes out to those with losses. My respect goes out to those who served. My thanks goes out to those who were and are giving themselves for the freedom we share. My appreciation goes out to the many who shared a common comradeship. I hope this relationship continues long after I am gone. It’s a great relationship.

Whatever the reason, however you participated, I wish the best for you from Canada on this Memorial Day.

Peace
FSB

That is a very moving video. Thanks for posting it.
My thanks and prayers go out to all of our sons and daughters, brothers and sisters, and mothers and fathers who made the ultimate sacrifice for all of us.

There is a Canadian cemetery at Normandy which we paid our respects at.

Thank you, for doing that, Doc. I can only imagine how interesting that historic site would have been. I hope the weather was nice for you so you could enjoy the tour.

We were there in mid-May and it was surprisingly cold out there on the coast.
