I'm asking this here because this is where the most traffic seems to be. Is it just me, or is anyone else having problems getting post notifications.

Never use 'em. Sorry.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

Toyed with notifications a long time ago, but found myself completely inundated, so I turned them off and haven't used them since.

Thanks, I get some but not from posts I've started.

It's not just you, oxfan. I've noticed that sometimes I'll get one notification and when I go to the thread there have been three or more posts. Other times I don't receive any notification and still other times the notification e-mail is sent normally.

    Cheers!

They are sometimes a little slow to arrive.

Note that you only receive notifications from threads (or forums) that you are subscribed to. I go through my subscriptions about once a week and delete all those that haven't had responses to them in several days or that I have lost interest in. That keeps the notifications to a minimum. Also, if you do not go to a thread when you first receive a notification of a new post, subsequent posts to that thread will not result in additional notifications. That is why you may find more posts than just the one if you don't react right away.

Hi oxfan: do you sometimes browse the Forum without being logged in? Nuttin' wrong with it if you do, but that's usually the cause of people not getting email updates when new posts have been added to a thread.

If you're not logged on then the Forum's system doesn't know you've seen the thread since it previously emailed you and doesn't do so again till you next view it whilst logged on. It's just a small measure to stop us being utterly inundated with emails - the more active amongst us will already be getting plenty as it is! :D

Cheers - C

Hi Ceri,

I usually sign in because I'm looking at notifications I do receive. As I mentioned earlier, I don't get notifications from threads I start all the time. No big deal, it's just a matter of following my own posts.

Uh-hu? Okey dokey - well, I just got an email notification of a new post on this thread, so I can report the system's working for your threads from where I'm sitting, at any rate! :D

Cheers - C
