Ok I feel like I'm in the tell tale heart. Somethings been bugging me and I just put my finger on it. Above the 13th fret my G string "rattles"? I've tried tightening every screw and pressing down on the saddle while plucking but can't isolate it. Trem springs maybe? Anyone ever have this issue? Isa Making me a friggin a nuts.

Cheers

Is the string actually hitting the fret? Could be a high fret, if you've got a fret rocker then give that a try. Might be the old "rising tongue" problem, a hump at the end of the fingerboard. Might be the trem springs, bit of foam rubber or duct tape should cure that. Sometimes it's the truss rod actually vibrating inside the neck at certain frequencies, that one's harder to fix.

I had a Guitar with a rattle problem at the 14 and 15th frets once and two strings. Drove me crazy for a few hours. No high frets, nothing I could see. Found out that the neck had been bumped hard on a coffee table. String was bent. Changed Strings all OK.

Is it only on a few frets or all of them above the 13th. Check the saddle and make sure it is parallel to the bridge plate. Oft times a half turn can make a difference.

Proper height on your bench and a good light will help to diagnose.
Hard liquor, not so much, which I learned the hard way. :D

Alas, string buzz on an acoustic can be even more puzzling and as you hint,
a quick road to insanity!
Cheers.

Thanks for the replies

I set my string height lastnight. Was at 4/64ths and had a slight fret buzz but not bad at all but went to 5/64ths and that seems gone. Then did intonation and pickup height. Tone and action seems way better. Still got the rattling though. Doesn't feel like fret buzz. I got a new set of strings so when I swap I'm going to have a closer look inside, check pickup screws and try some dampening of the trem springs. Bugging the crap out of me.

I think pups were too high. Read online about others having same issue with CS69 pups due to stagger. Some suggested pushing the pole down but no way was I doing that. One guy fixed it by doing measurement off middle poles. That improved it vastly. Still slight overtone if I strike it hard but sounds way better and with nice new strings to compliment the pups.
