I checked on him not long ago. He is OK, but is covered up with family obligations. Very busy.

I hope that there's nothing of a serious nature going on with Rhumba or any of his family and that's it's just regular family business like building a deck or greenhouse or something of that nature.I'd like to hear from to put our minds at ease.

Hi fella's!! GTG just sent me a message telling me about this thread and your concern which I find very touching and I feel compelled to respond, to all my friends in the forum.
I know it's been a while since I posted but one does get distracted by life's ever changing face and our position and role in our own particular close circle of circumstance. Wow!....this is all sounding a bit heavy for me.
Anyway, as our great friend GTG indicated, I have had a lot on lately with family affairs, mainly, my parents have required a lot of attention, resulting in me being their registered carer. Well my mother's now.
Around twelve months ago my father was admitted into a residential care home and so almost every day I've had to take my mother to visit, or that was until the end of january, when three days before his 91st birthday my dear father sadly passed away.
So now I have my mother staying with me requiring 24/7 care and well, she suffers from dememtia and this as been taking up much of my time. Not that I care about that because when we were all kids they were there for us and time comes when it's our turn to do it for them.
So briefly, that's what I've been up to and it can get somewhat time consuming and it as been deflecting me away from my music but I'm pleased to say things are turning around now as I get better at my job and the intricacies of it kinda smooth out.
On another note, or should I say Bluenote. ha. An old friend contacted me a couple of months back who was in the first group I was with 50 years ago can you believe? Yes, we were called the Bluenotes and well, he's retired from work now and has built a spacious music room on the end of his house and filled it with all kinds of guitars and amps (Rhumba says rubbing hands) he he.
Actually I've been there a few times now and we have really good times, even dragged our old drummer in once and man! Woah! it was unbelievable. Everything just fell back into place like it all happened yesterday, it would be great if we could find the others and get the band back together again. This is the group that played the Cavern back in the day, so we have a lot of reminiscing to catch up on, they were marvelous days.
So I'll get off for the moment but I'll be back soon, I've kinda missed you guys. I won't start listing names but I want to thank you all for your concern at me going awol and apart from family, reminding me of where I truly belong.
Cheers fella's
Rhumba

Hey Rhumba! :)

Lot's of people here will understand well what you've been going through and will be sending you plenty of friendly vibes. It's tough stuff, but amongst the most important things we can do for another human being. Power to your elbow, strength to your heart.

Meantime: yes! Get the band back together! A few of the greatest words in the language. 8)

Cheers, man - C

Thankyou Rhumba. Good to know that you're busy with important things. Taking care of your family is priority one, sorry that you've lost your Dad. From your post it sounds as though you're handling it. Very cool that your Mom has you. I liked the part about getting together with the old band, fun and musical magic :D . Looking forward to seeing you here again and as things will allow, more often 8) .

Hi Rhumba,it's good to know that all is well with your health but I'm sorry to hear about your father's passing.I know that coping with giving round-the-clock care for someone suffering from dementia can be both phycically and emtionally draining however I applaud you for stepping up and taking care of your mother in her twilight years-you certainly have a hard row to hoe in taking on that massive responsibility. I'm glad to hear that you've reconnected with old bandmates, that must be a welcome distraction and it's great that you guys still have that musical rapport that you had all these years ago and still meld together when you play.I recently ran into an old bandmate from a very popular and successful group we had in the mid 70s-the first time that I'd seen him since- and it was just great talking about old times,so getting together and playing again must have been an extremely satisfying experience for all of you.

Anyway take care my friend and all the best,I realize how demanding your responsibilities are now but please drop us a line whenever you have some time to yourself to let us know how things are going.Cheers.
