Yea, I'm in the middle of it.

My Telecaser: It's good, alright. But it's weird.

My half stack: It's also good, but also weird.

They both have the strangest issue. If and only if the amp is sitting on a hardwood floor and the user is barefooted, will it squeel. What exactly is going on?

I realized this when a friend came over and we played. I drummed, and he played guitar. He actually wears shoes, and the amp was sitting on a rug at first. Then we repositioned it and I started playing it and it was all squeely.

If it is a tube amp or a hybrid with a tube preamp, there's a chance the preamp tube is becoming microphonic and needs replacing. If gently flicking the side of the preamp tube with a pencil sounds like a snare drum that's the issue. If it is a solid state amp my guesses would be room acoustics or at least one pickup needs re-potting.

It is SS.

1991 Crate Excalibur GX900-H into a 1989 KMD GV412-S

Not sure if my pickups were ever potted, but the neck is a very early SD Invader (wound by Maricela Juarez, is actually a bridge)

and the bridge is only the previous owner's best guess, which was 80s MIJ.

Only partly serious here, but do you have any large metallic fillings in your teeth?

I used to do that too...but now I don't have to  But, back to the problem as posted.
So...Is it only when you play barefoot with the amp on the hardwood floor, or does the same thing happen with other barefoot guitarists?
Also, have you tried reversing the plug, or is it keyed such that it can go into the socket only one way? I'm thinking about capacitance/ground effects here. The teeth question was to do with an aerial effect, of course

Well, I most likely won't be the one dying from it, considering I usually drum now, but it would be nice for it to not squeel. it's a decent amp and I want to keep it. If it's something as simple as potting a pickup, I'll get it done.
