So many from which to choose. Does anyone have any favorites? If so, why? Thanks.

The RC-2 is a popular choice. I've heard is RC-3 as being less forgiving for connecting the beginning and ends of loops. Had an RC-2, had fun with it, sold it because of the tone suck that is inherent with all loopers.

Cool and thanks for reply. So should I assume that these pedals I'm reading about in GC catalog that claim no tone suck are lying? I saw something about pure something or other that is supposed to mean no tone suck.

Try the TC Ditto-one knob, one button, five minutes of recording time.

I purchased a BOSS RC-3 about three weeks ago, and I have to say, is the most helpful tool for learning and playing guitar in my opinion. I'm very happy with it; it works perfectly. It's the only loop pedal I've ever had, so I can't really compare it to anything though.

I really like my Jamman Stereo, I even used it as a one man band.
The only thing I wish it could do is jump from loop to loop during a song.
There is one that can, but I can't remember the name right now, but its very popular, and I think cost a little more..

+1 I've heard nothing but good things, and its supposedly not much of a tone-sucker. Its on my to-buy list currently.

Another vote for the Ditto here - messed around with one a while ago, really great little unit.

I don't have a dedicated looper, but I do have a Hardwire delay on my board with a looping function which occasionally comes in very handy - used it today while the drummer was trying to come up with a drum pattern to a rather fiddly section (lots of odd time signatures) and wanted us to keep repeating it. Got bored after a while, recorded the riff into the looper, set it to repeat and went off for a mug of tea while he drummed away.

How much time do you want to put into getting to know your looper? For me, I don't want to have to take an 8 hour course on what my looper can do but I will probably never use(boss, digitech). I owned the jam man for one week before I sent it back and borrowed a boss RCA-20 for just as long before I sent that back as well. Look, my memory is not what it used to be and having to relearn how to use certain functions over and over again just doesn't appeal to me. Now don't get me wrong, they are good loopers, you just have to invest more time than I'm willing to put in to never use all the functions they're capable of performing. :x

What can I say, a looper is not a really big part of what I do. I am however looking forward to getting the tc ditto looper. Simple and easy to learn. Start, stop, play, delete, and retrieve. Good enough for what I want to do.

On my list too.

I agree with socal323: when these gizmos get too complicated you end up not using them at all. The Ditto seems to do everything a guitarist needs and nothing he doesn't.

Cheers - C

Boy, ain't that the truth. When these things are too complicated to fool with, after the newness wears off you wind up with an overpriced doorstop.

My TC Ditto arrived last week and has been a gas to play with. I agree with their tagline: it has been designed by guitarists, for guitarists, because the features are intuitive and necessary--nothing superflous. For example, there is no battery compartment, and the thing doesn't come with an adapter because the designers realize that almost everybody who buys one will already have a pedalboard with a power supply available. My ears are not detecting any tone-sucking or that nasty artificial digital tone, which is nice.

Ironically, perhaps the only drawback with the Ditto is a very calculated design feature: the engineers made it tiny enough so that it can fit anywhere on an already-crowded pedalboard, but the thing is so small that I may wind up mounting it sideways in order to get a larger velcro footprint! I'm pretty sure I'll keep using it, because it's too small to make an effective doorstop. :D

Hey dudes thanks for all the replies. I just orderd my TC Ditto, and guess what?

Right now Musicians Friend has a rebate program where if you buy the Ditto and one of TC's distortion pedals (4 to choose from), you get a TC flanger pedal free, so it's basically 3 pedals for the price of 2 ($129 each).

Edit: I just got a notice that it's on back order. Everyone wants one of these thing.

Edit number 2: this got me looking at TC's other pedals. They seem to be made of metal (referring to the thread about less quality materials nowadays). Hmmmm. they sound (description) awesome. Anyone have other TC pedals?
