I've been up to my eyeballs in work, so I haven't gotten a chance to post about it until now, but I just bought a new amp this month! :D It isn't a Fender, but it's based off one. And my Fender Deluxe VM and my borrowed Fender Twin still get plenty of use, so I haven't completely abandoned ship! ;)

I'll start from the beginning... Two years ago I was in Austin checking out the guitar stores when I came across a store with a very good selection of high end and vintage amps. At the time the only really good amps I had ever played was a handful of vintage Fenders, so I took my time and tried them all! Two Rocks, Custom Shop and Vintage Fenders, Tone Kings, Victorias, Vintage Marshalls, and many more. When I asked about which amps would be best for clean blues tone, the shop owner plugged me into a Grammatico Kingsville. It's basically a 4 x 10" Bassman based 45 watt combo amp. And it completely blew me away. I really just needed to play one note and I could hear the difference. I would've bought it on the spot, but as an 18 year old musician I didn't have nearly enough money for it, so I had to wait and save.

Two years (and over 100 hours of paying gigs) later, I got in contact with John Grammatico and picked one up straight from him at his house in Austin! I was on my way to Dallas anyway, and since my Deluxe VM needed to be retubed it was a convenient excuse to pick it up on the way to Dallas for the gig at the guitar show. That was about three weeks ago. I've only played it live a couple of times since because I have new-expensive-gear-without-a-roadcase paranoia and because I only want to use it in non-smoking bars since this is an amp I'm going to have for the rest of my life. But so far I really love how it sounds live and when I'm practicing! It's kind of hard to describe, but it just lets you hear your guitar tone come through purely, without coloring it or compressing it in any way. It also captures all of your picking dynamics, which allows everything you play to really come through. And I never really 100% believed all those people who claimed that cables sound different from one another, but after trying several cables through the Grammatico, it's really amazing just how much they actually do sound different.

So anyway, I'll just cut to the chase and get to the pictures now. :D This was taken the day that I got it.

And here it is with the Forum Strat and a matching Lava Cable Coily Cord that I picked up at the guitar show.

Here you go: http://www.grammaticoamps.com/index.html

It looks like just the one model. Hard to believe it only weighs 42#'s with 4 speakers. My Vox is about 55# with 1-12. Since I'm on the wrong side of 39, I think about these things. :)

It is super light. And as a 5' 3" wimpy guitar player girl, the fact that I'm able to carry it at all it a huge plus! He said it was so light because of the types of speakers he used and because the cabinet is made of solid pine.

Right now he has only one model, the Kingsville. But while I was there he let me try a prototype of the next Grammatico amp model! I'm not sure if I can spill the beans on it yet or not, so I'll just say that it's smaller and it sounds great!

Really Great Amp !!

You're going to find out that you can do better than the stock bottles.

My instructor has this amp and told me so. I'll ask him what tubes he put in and why/results and post back here.

cheers!
