Nice Kramer now, looking forward to Squier pic's!

Thanks! Squier coming soon. I'm gonna order a new bridge, tuners, and string trees for the Squier. Once I get those parts I should have it put together in a day or two. :)

Actually I have this photo from a gig about 2 years ago. Used the Kramer for this gig after I spent some time bringing her back to life.

Update on project Squackacaster. She's almost done!

Goodies. New trem bridge, vintage style tuners, roller string trees, and 250k pots.
Image

Neck pocket. Yep this is certainly made out of plywood!
Image

Did I mention how great GHS Gorgomyte is? Check out the 17 and 18th fret.
Image

Old trem vs new one.
Image

That trem was about to fall apart!
Image

Wired pots to pup switch and jack. There was a side effect though. Now the pots are too big for the cavity so I had to cut the neck pocket side of the pick guard so the neck would bolt on. Now I might run into pickup alignment issues and I need to drill new pick guard mounting screw holes. You guys think I should enlarge the cavity hole instead?
Image

Mounted the tuners and string trees. Had to ream the tuner holes for the new bushings to fit. Then I had to drill new tuner mounting screw holes. See that smudge right under the B string tuner? I messed up, I drilled a hole right through the headstock!

Thanks! Can't wait to finish her already. I need those pup height screws so I can wire the pups and mount them to the pick guard.

That's a first class pro refurb on the Kramer 1neeto,really tidy work.I cringe when I see a guitar that dirty-some people shouldn't be allowed near music stores...lol.I can't wait to see the finished Strat.

Thanks! Did I mention this is my first time going this deep into a guitar? The most complicated thing I did before this was installing a AmStd bridge on my tele. I really like doing this stuff.

So today I broke a string while playing for the first time (D string isn't that odd?), so since guitar part online sent me an extra pair of roller string trees, I decided to install them.

Broken string an factory string tree.

After new roller string trees.

Reason why I added another one is because I didn't like the string angle of the G and D strings. Now I'm not sure if I like these roller trees because they do sit higher than I expected. What do you guys think?

Well I'm done but I think I have a ground problem. Other than that, the guitar plays great but goes out of tune when I use the trem bar. Just need a few days for those strings to stretch some more I guess.

Ok here's some pics.

The Strat looks great, especially with the Kluson style tuners. Those early MIK Squier II's aren't bad guitars IMO. I had bought one back in 1990 which was White and had a maple fretboard. It sounded great but the only thing I hated about it were those darn trapezoid stock tuners . I ended up selling it a year or so later . I guess you can buy them now for a reasonable price on the vintage market around the $150 - $200.00 range depending on condition.

Hope you don't mind Juanito but I made copies of your pics. The three quoted above, I mean. I'll be saving those for a friend of mine who loves to argue there's no difference between his Squier and my ADs except price but he refuses to remove a single screw on his guitar because then, "It won't be original." Like Leo created it with his own hands or something.

I love what you've been doing here. I did that a few years ago to an older gentleman's violin. The look of delight on his face when he saw it was worth the time and effort. It's a holy work you're doing in reviving those instruments. Kudos.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

By all means take the pics! Your friend needs a reality check! The factory hardware of this guitar was terrible!

The only Squiers that are made as good as American instruments are the ones that were MIA. And the MIJ Squiers are great too. This MIK was actually made by Samick, so they're not bad at all! I have to say though, even though it's a plywood body, she resonates and sustains very good! Maybe it's the pickups, but this guitar plays and sounds great! I also scored a Boss SD-1 pedal and that pedal with the Squier is a match made in heaven. :)

Yeah one look at those tuners and I had to throw them away. I think $150 is a very reasonable price. If I ever sold mine, I'd ask about $300. The pickups alone are worth that much. :) Love the guitar, I have band practice tonight so she's coming with me to the studio, and I'm recording!
