I bought a new Mustang II (pre V2), and it decided to start acting up and get really bad sound and break up, fizz, intermittent power problems, etc. ANYWAYS, I want to swap it out for another Fender amp. I have my eyes on either a Frontman 212r or Mustang III V2. They are within my affordable price range right now) The sound I mostly go for is a bluesy tone, think SRV or KWS... I'll jump into a heavier tone occasionally for hard rock too but with my Mustang II amp I was constantly on the 65' Twin Reverb channel....Any input on these two amps would really be appreciated, or for that matter, any AMPS in the under $400 price range that could be recommended.

Do you really think you'll have better luck with another chicom-made Fender amp?

I don't know. At the end of my post I put, "Any input on these two amps would really be appreciated, or for that matter, any AMPS in the under $400 price range that could be recommended."

I'm not opposed to another brand. I already have 2 tube amps, and PA Cabs, etc. This amp is for messing at home, etc.

I don't own one myself, but I have tried a Frontman 25R and those amps seem to sound really good for what you get. I still might get one,...at a later time,..leave the BIG 40 watt HRD III at the church, and use the Frontman 25R at home for practice. Speaking of which,...I am picking up my MIM Standard Strat and HRD III amp this coming Monday at
Sweetwater Sound in Ft. Wayne,In. Give that 25R a try,...you just might like it!

The singer/guitarist in my band uses a Fender Deluxe transistor amp. 80watts. Uses it for home and gigs. Good amp, nice sounds. Wouldn't worry about watts on one of them as they sound as good quiet as the do loud. 12" speaker, not too big.
