My little guitar/bass amp and overdrive/distortion effect maker (in Texas Red!!!). It's the Fender Frontman 25R, and this thing, despite the size, is a killer. Normal volume on 4 is enough to make the house shake, and don't even get me started with Overdrive volume on 2. On TWO it will literally knock things off shelves and break glass. It's my one and only amp, but it's all I am going to need for years to come. Thank you, Fender, for making this quality amp. (Sorry for huge photos)

Well, if your house shakes with that, I'd hate to see what a halfstack would do to it.

Glad you're happy with the amp, it's a lovely color as well. 8)

Very cool, M1KE! 8) Love the color...and I agree, those amps are "sneaky loud" (you don't expect that much sound out of a amp that size).

I am a self-described "tube guy," but there are several solid state amps that are really good...the Frontman series is amongst that group.

Not too long after Katrina hit New Orleans, I saw a typical NOLA funk/jazz/whatever-you-call-that-Funky Meters-style band playing in Fort Worth...the guitarists sounded great--solid, expressive, rich guitar tones...and LOUD!

I was shocked when I went up and looked at their back line between sets. Both were using Fender Frontman amps (one guy had a 65R the other a 212). When I commented that I didn't expect them to be using solid state amps (considering how good their tone was) they both said, "I lost what I had, and this was the best I could afford; it sounds good, it's tough and we're back on the road."

The guy with the 212 said he'd probably just keep using it, even after he "got back on his feet." That tells you something--a professional musician choosing something that many people overlook, because it serves his purpose...even if it doesn't fit preconceived prejudices and ideas.

You got a good amp--congratulations and Merry New Amp Day!

Now go RATTLE THEM WALLS!!!

I'm a firm believer in the Frontman 25R.
In fact, i got 3 of 'em.
I used to catch all kinda snobbery for 'em, but they're just great!
Nice 'n' clean, and yes they will rock a 20x20 room.
Awesome sound quality for a hundred bucks!

Nice red there bud!

Yep, those lil red amps are definitely sharp looking.

I think I'll have to give one a go next time I'm in Guitar Center. I'll make sure I go with empty pockets, though- I don't need to bring another amp home!

You just gotta love the little amps with big mouths! I almost crapped one day when I walked into the bass room to see what amp someone was ROCKING the store with. It was a tiny lil MarkBass combo with an 8" (!!!) speaker... Sounded fantastic, too. The amount of sheer bass power coming out of that tiny box was astonishing.

+1 on the 25 Front man.
I got two on a good day, and loved to plug
the stereo reverb stomp into them and space them out. 8)
When I fell on hard times, one had to go.

There´s a 2x 12" in the store but have not dared to try it
for fear of falling in love, with an empty wallet.

They are great sounding amps and sound and perform way better than most S.S. amps. Several years ago after they had been out for 4 or 5 years, my nephew was looking for a first "loud" amp for gigging and as it happened there was one advertised in a local Buy & Sell magazine. He lived 3 1/2 hour's drive away so I phoned him and told him that I'd try it out for him. I took my trusty '65 Strat with me and was floored by the tone and volume that this incredibly cheap amp had.Needless to say I heartily recommended it to him and he asked me to pick it up for him and he used it gigging until I picked up a '71 Marshall Artiste 2040 combo for him-that's another story.

Congrats on getting a great sounding amp and I know that you'll have many happy years with it because besides sounding great, they are practically bomb-proof in reliability.

I agree...

The Frontman series are really good amps, for solid state. I have the 65r and it is freakin' LOUD!!!

I keep the clean channel volume on about "2" and my Strat's volume rolled back to "8". With that setting, it is still loud, but not house shaking loud. The crystal clear pristine Fender tone shines through!

I keep the gain channel volume on about "2.5", the gain on "7", and again the Strat's volume on "8". It is a very dirty, distorted tone, but sounds a little thin due to the solid state circuitry. If I nudge the volume up to "3", then I start getting into Carlos Santana / Jimi Hendrix type of howling feedback, depending on how close I stand in front of the amp.

I have never attempted to play the Frontman 65r at any higher volume, due to my neighbors would probably call the cops! LOL... For being 65watts, the Frontman kicks serious a.$.$. and is just like the 25r but louder.

I can't imagine playing the Frontman 212r with it being 100watts out of two 12's!! Holy Mother of God, that must be loud!!!

Lastly, one major complaint that everyone from the 25r, 65r, and 212r has... The Frontman series amps are notorious for the wicked "volume spike" in the knobs. "1" is quiet like listening to somebody quietly talk to you. "2" is loud. "3" will blow you out of the house. Anything from "3" to "10" is so loud, you can't stand it.

If you think a stock Frontman 25R sounds good, replace the crappy stock speaker with an Eminence Ragin Cajun speaker and stand back.

From the tone of Butch's post, I'd say Wayyy back, lol.

It isn't just the Frontman's they use that volume pot on- you hear the same complaint from users of a lot of their small tube amps, too. Blues Jr. HRD, etc. They go from reasonable to blow you out of your chair with a tiny twist...

Indeed so! I made this exchange and wayyyy up to heaven!
Also bought the 65R, so now I have both the 25 and the 65 (as well as SCX2, but that's something different...) and very happy with. I should say, the 25R is the first version, black cloth, Mexico made, so I find it hard to get rid of...
Must say: I love the reverb from 25R moooore than the one from 65R. It's not the same?

Listen to Bluesky . I also have one of those which is Red and I went and installed a Eminence Rajun Cajun in mine. They're only 70 bucks and it'll make a major difference in the amp's sound . You think it's loud now, put one of those in and the volume of that amp will almost double in volume.
