That has been hard to define. I definately wouldn't call samplers musicians. To me a musician plays a musical instrument. A sampler is more like a film editor. He/she takes an already produced product and arranges it in a manner pleasing to him and hopefully others. That does require artistic skill, but it isn't creating music. It's working with already created music and changing the beat/adding poetry. I'd have to call it a valid art form.

Well spoken...

C'mon, now Abhu Ghraib? 1 week of bad music is comparable to physical torture. We're talking about music here dude.

Just some good ol fashioned hyperbole, brother.

a lot of songs from the early 60s and 70s where bad, why is everyone here so emotional about rap?
"sexually charged rock"???? wtf is that?

U kidding me? Listen to Van Halen's stuff, a lot of the Zeppelin stuff is talking about sex. Big deal, the rappers now talk about it in more of the vulgar ways. Just like the kids that got the record deal came not from rich backgrounds, the rappers also came from ghettos. I don't think anyone here is emotional, just saying that rap is music, but a some people disagree that rap is music. W/o rap there wouldn't be Biohazard, well, not the Bio we know now, no Limp Bizkit - which could be good, no Linkin Park.

(Pardon me while I get supercilious) I hate Disney's Live Action Movies, particularly Marry Poppin's. I'd rather listen to Rap than Dick Van Dyke singing in a bad SoHo Accent. Now That's Super-SillyAss entertainment.

The Aristocats, however, that's right up my Alley.

I never was a Disney fan, even as a kid. You're right though, Dick Van Dyke was horrible in Mary Poppins. Come to think of it Chitty Chitty Bang Bang too.
