Rap/ hip hop makes me shake my head in disbelief

The only time I get really pissed off about music is when a CLASSIC song is used as the backdrop to a cheeseburger or shoe commercial.

Otherwise if I don't like it I turn it off, don't let it make me angry.

Any music when the singer / Raper puts his hand, (ON OR NEAR HIS JUNK). Thats the signal that it's time for (THE HOOK).

Ok, I really dont like RAP at all. R&B - not as bad, but not good either. Give me modern country, classic rock, blues any time.

Boy band banality especially those who prefer to add at least a dozen syllables to every frikin word, think they call it vocal acrobatics, I call it chimp talk

any music which talks about drugs, sex, alchohol, that includes bad language or consistantly repetitive (same lyrics over and over/no verses). i often listen to the same several albums for a day or so intil i get bored with them and then i get new ones.

all of the artists that are releasing music today are mostly one hit wonders

I absolutely abhor rap and hip hop and most heavy metal especially thrash metal.Most of the top 40 type garbage on the radio these days is that-pure garbage with throwaway lyrics and melodies just churned out like McHappy meals.I also hate to see classic songs used for commercials-tonight I saw something for the first time that totally disgusted me, that was the melody of one of my favourite Steelers Wheel songs in a Mini Wheats commercial,I dare say that Gerry Rafferty would hit 10,000 RPM in his grave if he knew that.The new country drivel that is coming out of Nashville these days also is unlistenable, I`m glad that there are guys like Steve Earle and Marty Stuart still keeping the real country music going.I can`t stand to listen to Shania Twain,her songs are just insipid, vacuous,drivel,if she hadn't married Mutt Lange she'd still be singing karioke in Winnipeg.Steve Earle got it right when he described her:"She's not hard to look at but awful hard to listen to."We need another Renaissance in the music industry like the British Invasion but that's not very likely to happen at all.

And I wonder how much less meaningful music can become. I hear such a lot of lifeless music that I welcome any honest music without an awful lot of processing.

Its not exactly the music itself that gets me.

For example, I am not a fan of rap/hip hop because I dont like the sound. However the culture that seems to go with it is what gets me. Cool, you're thug. Congrats. However when a rock band covers a hip hop song, I tend to like it.

I like any music which I deem to be of artistic value, regardless of genre.
What bothers me is people defining themselves by their taste in music.


Oh, and 30 Seconds to Mars suck.

I would say RAP but then I would be a hippocrate because I have a couple Run DMC albums. And it has nothing to do with race because I own numerous albums made by black artists. It has more to do with the current songs content and no actual musical instrument content. And that ridiculous bass....

Country is a close second. The male voices tend to start in a lower register then sort of tune up to the pitch they need to be at. The female are alright though. Never really seen an ugly one which make up for a lack of talent. Play a country album in reverse and your beer is full, your girl comes back, you find your dog, your truck runs, you get a call to come back to work...
