Traded off some more unused gear laying around. Got this really nice Epiphone SG g400. Headstock says custom shop limited edition, however I've never found evidence of Epiphone having an actual custom shop. Limited edition I can believe. After searching around for info on this particular SG with the uncomon quilt top burst, I found that these were limited runs for Best Buy. I guess kind of like Fender FSR. Anyway I've never owned any other type of electric besides my Strats, and my first "real" guitar(Kramer focus 3000 I got for Christmas when I was 16, which is still a strat type body) Not sure how I like it yet, has a real pretty look to it, but the scale, and the balance feels weird to me. Sounds real nice, but not what I'm used to. Definitely an eye catcher, maybe I'll keep it, maybe use it for trade bait...still on the fence. Brand new condition, with the plastic film still on the pick guard. I do love the quilt top!

Wow, now that is a nice quilt top. Certainly unusual for an SG, but a nice sunburst just the same. Cool. Be sure to keep the PB&J fingers away from it

will do! Not sure how many were made for Best Buy's music shop, but I've never seen one, except on another forum for SG, thats where I learned about this one. Slam dunk for Me, only traded an alesis midiverb iii, and a boss mt-2 pedal, and a loaded pickguard from a strat, which was worthless to me it was the junk I pulled out of the black MIM strat I built into my Gilmour clone. I did always like Gerry with his SG!

Yeah...I always liked the sound from an SG too...but I always leaned towards Clapton in Cream for my SG sounds. I have a pretty nice 61 Reissue and it plays so effortlessly, it is easy to forget about ending the solo!

She's a beauty, Arnold, congratulations! I also have an SG, and I love it. They're very playable and have great tone...and they have that wicked look.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

You are correct, AFAIK there is no 'Custom Shop', it should just say 'Limited Edition'. These are supposed to be really nice guitars, they are the 'high end' Epiphone SG.

Yep, the #1 complaint with this model is 'neck dive'. It's not weighted properly, a design flaw. There are several solutions, some people add weights to the body of the guitar, others just buy a big wide leather strap with suede on the inside so it won't slip.

Either way, this is a very pretty guitar, did you get it directly from Best Buy, or second hand?

Hey Strings, says both, Custom Shop, Limited Edition, but there is no Custom shop. Anyway. I got it in trade for some unused gear I had, previous owner must have never touched it...it's in pristine condition! Found a few of this model in a pearl white color with the same logo on the headstock. I'll take a pic of it late and post.

exactly, they should just mark them as 'Limited Edition', the 'Custom Shop' marking is misleading. But most people that buy an Epi know what they're getting.

Buying an Epi second hand can be a gamble, there are lots of counterfeits out there. From the pics you posted, this one looks 100% genuine to me, but feel free to post some more pics if you're at all concerned. Pics of the back of the headstock showing the serial number and tuners would be good for that purpose. Also, a pic showing volume/tone knob position from above in relation to the bridge, and a pic inside the control cavity.

But again, I suspect this one's real, so enjoy it! :D

Well as hard as I tried to like this guitar, the ONLY thing I do like is the finish
I've been offered for trade a Deluxe roadhouse strat in 3TSB, or a FSR 48th street strat in CAR. Mulling it over, I do like the CAR 48th street, but not partial to rosewood necks, right now leaning toward the Deluxe roadhouse. Guess I'll make a decision during the work night tonight. Any opinions from the forum?

I don't own any Fenders with a rosewood fretboard , and would have chosen that just to try it out. And the CAR is niiiice , IMO . Good luck with your choice :D

I have 1 rosewood Strat, a 60's CP, not a feel thing for me, more the way it looks. I have a CAR strat already with a maple neck, the more I compare the 2 I'm leaning towards the Roadhouse in 3 TSP!

Hallo Arnold!
Made out like a bandit you did!
That scrap metal lying around, good riddance.
Not to demerit a midiverb III. But I did sell my III and IV units
and don´t much miss them. Great workhorses til they got noisy
some 10 years into the game.

Should this not be a keeper for you I am sure you will profit,
quilted maple will hipnotize your prospect buyers.

Seeing the complete guitar on here I´m sure will yield valuable
comments from the most knowledgeable members.

Congrats! :D
