Well,...first things first,...my fishing boat is paid for finally! Secondly,...about this time next week,if not sooner,..I should have my Strat and amp,...but not the Blues Deluxe RI amp,...the Hot Rod Deluxe III won out after trying it out. Why the Hot Rod Deluxe III now?
After comparing amps,I felt that the Celestion speaker in the HRD III sounded better than the Eminence speaker in the BDRI amp. Plus,...I like the new design of the control panel on the HRD III,...black with white lettering instead of chrome w/white lettering as found on the BDRI amp. It's there if I want it,but I seriously doubt I will use the "More Drive" channel.
MIGHT use the "drive channel" on some contemporary christian music once I learn some of that stuff, but this amp's "clean" channel will be what I use 95% of the time since my focus is mainly on learning some southern gospel and country gospel. My wallet would not allow the Deluxe Reverb RI amp,so I went with Hot Rod DLX III instead.

Now,for a question about tubes. I had been reading some comments on youtube about the stock GT tubes not performing well in these amps. Not sure how true that may be,but some of the complaints I read is where the stock GT tubes would rattle. One commented that he switched to JJ tubes and the rattle went away. Has anybody here switched to Electro Harmonix tubes or Tung-Sol tubes other than the JJ tubes? I don't know why,but I have been researching the Tung-Sol 6L6GC STR tubes and they seem to "jump out" at me as if they are saying "We are the tubes you want,Dewey!" Sounds crazy, but it's true. NOS tubes are way too expensive,...some pairs cost darn near $200.00 or more! If I do experience the rattle they are talking about on youtube,I may very well go with Tung-Sol tubes,...and the GT tubes will come out.

You'll be unneccessarily paying a hefty premium for the Tung-Sol STR's -- for something your new HRDIII does not require. The re-issue TS bottles are intended for applications where the plate voltages approach or even exceed 500 VDC (basically, Fender's late '70s ultra-linear platforms). They're a durable and great sounding tube but I think you'll find that the Electro-Harmonix 6L6EX's will perform just as well and are substantially less expensive than the STR's.

And yes -- I own both brands, for use in different amps. And I'm quite satisfied with them.

Tungsol are made in the same factory as Sovtek and ElectroHarmonix.
Sovtek own all three names.
