Hey Steve: I expect you're amongst those who have heard a bit about the Doc's itinterary. I think he should turn this thread into a daily blog about his travels - I happen to know he's going to some of my favourite places and words and pictures would be very welcome! :)

Doc...?

Anyway. Go safely and have a great trip.

Salute - C

Greetings ya'll.....
Back in the U.S.A. since late Sunday evening. 21 hours Venice>Paris>Atlanta>Fort Lauderdale. Just about finished getting all the laces tied once again and my life running straight. In four weeks we'll be off to the west coast...Seattle, Alaska cruise, and Victoria...semi-annual family gathering. Going out on the 4th of July and returning on the 21st. Touring in a group doesn't allow much time for correspondence, but it was an interesting time...kind of a review of Art History 101-102. There were places I could have done without, and others I made sure to be, and will likely return for a more comprehensive immersion. I made it a point to visit the Normandy beachheads. It was time to give thanks to the fallen for their supreme sacrifices. I was hoping to meet Alain, but our agendas did not mesh this time around. The French and Italian countrysides, from both the ground, and the air, is enchanting. Paris is a place to be. History just oozes from every corner as it does in Rome, Firenze, and Venice. The Colosseum is deceiving to the eye. It must have been an incredible sight, intact and filled to the gunnels.

Did I miss the skyscrapers, did I miss the long freeways??...You can betchyourlife I did........not. Paris does not need skyscrapers and there are enough self-determined two and four wheeler operators overseas to make any sane driver seek counselling.

Good to be home...good to go back.

Definitely ate well in Italy...Sorrento, Pompeii, Roma, Torgiano, Viareggio, Cinque Terre, Firenze, Venezia. Basta Pasta e vino. Paris wasn't too shabby either.
