G'day all,

just wanted to share a few photos of a nice player guitar I happened to come across locally and took the opportunity to purchase:
Image

She's an early 80's MIJ '57 reissue. It's a bit of a mutt guitar having a Seymour Duncan JD JR humbucker in the bridge, '54 string tree, 60's pickguard, and the neck plate is a blank (no serial number). But after visiting the sellers home and putting it through its paces - I was pleased to find this is one very nice playing guitar! The neck is an absolute joy - being a 30-year old guitar it feels like a vintage neck, and though I've never actually played a real 50's strat I would imagine it has to be as 50's-correct as it gets. The single coil pickups are a little on the quiet side (I've yet to play with the pup height), but very sweet sounding and pleasing. Really a screaming blues guitar, it's all I've been playing since taking it home. Long story short I'd be hard convinced that this isn't a Squier JV stratocaster (big wink to those in-the-know ). The seller included the original bridge pickup and that'll be going back in immediately.

...and since I don't own a nice car to put it against for a photography session, here's a picture of one instead:

...and the bridge pup:

Looks pretty much like the sunburst Squier JV George Harrison used at Wembley in 1987.

Sweet guitar-congrats.That guitar is almost identical to the MIJ Strat that Blinkers bought a few days ago,his is a 50s reissue with the 2 tone sunburst and has a DiMarzio in the bridge position I believe.Anyway the guitar plays and sounds fabulous and I believe that he'll hang on to this one.MIJ Fenders are just exemplary in every way,I'm sure that you find the same to be true of your new Strat.

Beautiful guitar.

I always preferred the original style sunburst Fender used in the beginning for the Stratocaster. Congratulations on finding one.

+100, guitarslinger! I personally have yet to own an MIJ Fender that hasn't impressed me. Used MIJ Fenders of all years have got to be some of the best value anyone could possibly get. This particular guitar, to me, feels the way a guitar is supposed to feel. I am already considering selling my CS strat, simply because I can't justify having a guitar that expensive around when my MIJ for 1/4 of the price offers just as many positive traits.

Reminds me of my first real guitar, a 1986 E series Squier Strat. Those early Squiers are exemplary, congrats on the NGD and I know you'll have a lot of fun with that guitar. I should really get my hands on another '62 reissue.
