I have a question about the Road Worn Series. I'm thinking they are not considered vintage, how do they differ from say, a new American Special other than they are worn? I know vintage is a whole another animal compared with "new" guitars as they are sold exclusively from newer/other guitars. Are the Road Worn exclusive and can they be paired with any electric guitar amp? :?

I played one for quite awhile recently. Unplugged I felt it was a very average and lifeless guitar. It wasn´t very resonant and lively as is my experience with other Teles.

However, when i plugged it, it was a different thing, those pickups really helped the guitar come through in a balanced and not spiked or harsh guitar.

Amp used was a Fender Vibroverb.

I have a 50s RW Tele. All I can say is that it is my favorite guitar. I own a ton and that is the one I reach for all the time! From the feel to the sound it is absolutely amazing!! Try one in a good fender amp and watch it come alive!
Cheers,
ABS :D

A "vintage" guitar is a guitar that is at least 25 years old. No Road Worn series guitars are vintage because none of them have been out that long. They are just produced to look vintage and well-used. Tonally, they will sound similar to other MIM Fenders with the same pups.

Personally, I would go for the American Special over the MIM Road Worn. But someone who likes the reliced looks of a Road Worn or doesn't like Custom Shop Texas Special pups would disagree with me.

Finally, most any electric guitar can be plugged into most any electric guitar amp.

For me the Tex Mex pups are just meh, that and the relicking looks pretty much the same on all of them and fake. Kind of like buying jeans with the hole already in em. I agree, I'd go American Special.
