Thanks for that link. It will make a good point for reference.

NO, I'm not saying that the non-American made are rubbish.

I'm 62 and played a Jaguar in the mid-late sixties. I had been out of playing since early 70's, only picking up someones guitar now & then. My grandkids are getting interested in music. I did zero research and had a kneejerk reaction to buy a Fender Squire & amp combo for $200 a few years ago. I cant get used to it. I dont like it, but that's me. Now that I want to play again, I'm no different than anyone else in wanting the best for what I can afford. I'm on a fixed income. My wife's wages are frozen. I had a great and memorable experience with my Jag and I'm afraid to spend money on something that I wont be happy with.

I do not mean to offend anyone and apologize if I have.

Buy a jag!

Ditto. Check the products section under guitars. You'll find them in a variety of reincarnations at MSRP's between $500 and $2150 US. Your higher end guitars will be generally American made. The serial number on the back of the headstock of current guitars will starr with US; MX for Mexico; or might read 'crafted in China, Korea, Indonesia, or Japan. Some of these changes are recent.

Go to Support on the website's banner and find the section on product dating for an extremely detailed explanation of the process. This may be of interest to you should you be shopping 'used', or prior to the date of inception of the new numbering system.

Hi dbt.
You mentioned having owned a Jag,
then being dissappointed with that combo deal.
For my part and considering the memory and
bodily recall you have of that Jag, nothing but an
expensive Fender will do for you. I found it my best investment
to sacrifice essentials for a time in order to be able to purchase
one such instrument.
As for the Fender guitars made elsewhere, the Japanese I find to be of
excellent craftmanship. Just my humble opinion.
Happy trails!

You're probably right.

Maybe someone could answer a few more questions.

First, ya'll have to remember, I was 16 when I got my Jaguar. The guy I bought it from wanted to buy a Mustang. I had no clue what a great guitar I was getting. I was only aware of the Fender name, so when he offered to sell it to me, I jumped at the chance to own a "Fender"!

I dont know if it was a 62 or a 65 nor do I know the neck radius. Does anyone happen to know the neck radius of the Squire Strat that I bought that was made in Indonesia?

Thanks.
