I have been playing for almost three years and just haven't quite found the right strings for me. What is your favorite type of string and why?
Thanks for any and all answers.

D'Addario EXL115s (11-49). I like big strings cause they sound fuller. I like D'Addarios bcause I rarely break them, they stay in tune well for me, and they don't wear out as quickly as other strings I have tried.

I too spent many years trying to find the strings I liked. I kept going to Dean Markley Blue Steel strings.
Then I found Dean Markley Flatwound Electrics. I didn't like the unwound strings in the flatwound sets, so I started making my own sets using the flatwound E, A, D, and sometimes G and the rest out od Blue Steel sets.

I've started using a set I made from ernie ball singles. it goes .014, .018, .024p, .036, .046, .058 They give me a fuller tone and they just sound good to me.

I hear SIT strings are pretty good, so I just put some of them on last week and they seem to be pretty good...

D'Addario XLs rule. Best tone, most even response, absolutely the best intonation and the most consistent string I've ever used. Also, the groovy packaging lets me 10 sets at once, and the last one sounds just like the first one with no corrosion.

On my Strat I use D'Addario Super XL .010 - .046. I've tried other brands and sizes, these just feel right to me.

On my acoustic I use D'Addario Acoustic Guitar Phosphor Bronze Environmental Custom Lite, .011 - .052, EJ26-3D. These give a nice rich tone that I like for playing unplugged.

i use GHS boomers low tune 11-53 on most everything, i use ghs nickle round rockers on the flamekaster, they are a low tune 11,15,19p,28,38,58. I changed to the boomers for a while and just couldnt make the guitar sound the way i wanted, because the nickle round rockers in that gauge is hard to find, and ifound a set the otherday put them on and the flamekaster was one fire again.

Martin Marque's med. on my acoustics, and
D'Adarrio XL light Jazz on my ES135

Depends on my mood!

I prefer Di'Adarrio XL's but I also play DR Hi-Beams.
Both strings sound good for a long time before having to change them.
Usually I go for 10's but 11's are nice too.
