Good news, Eric Clapton just announced that Nate will rejoin the lineup after a 10-year absence.

The 50th Years Further On Up The Road world tour was the last for Willie Weeks after nearly 7 years as a touring and studio bassist.

He's very much in demand. Fourplay is finishing up a record
right now, I believe.

Saw Nathan backing Phil Collins at the MEN arena in Manchester . He duetted with Phil on "Easy lover"

Does Nathan East actually use that Yamaha garbage in the studio, or does he just make money being seen with it? Great player with bad endorsements.

Nathan still uses Yamaha basses both live and in the studio, though he occasionally brings a few other basses from his collection, including a Mayones Caledonius 6, a Music Man StingRay 5 and a couple of Foderas.

He retired the BBNE6 from active service in 2005 in favor of the old polar white TRB6P.

The faded cherry sunburst TRB6 (his first call 6-string bass) has been sold in 1992 after 3 years of touring.

Some people sound good no matter what gear they use.

I guess he'll brought the Caledonius for the 2014 Asian tour with his old friend Eric Clapton…..

Yes, and some people sound bad no matter what they play.
I suspect that anyone categorically calling Yamaha "crap" belongs to that category.
Players like Nathan East and Billy Sheehan would not play and continue playing Yamaha basses if they were "crap".

Yamaha makes excellent-sounding basses, I've had an RBX350 with Lace Sensors and I regret selling it.

+1

John Myung stopped using Yamahas not because these basses are a crap but he simply wowed a return to his roots. That's why he made the move to the Ernie Ball camp.

Hold on a second, I've gotta put my Fodera away to record this one. Let me grab the Yamaha.

We need to continue to bear in mind that one player's 'crap' might be another's 'candy' even though, in someone's humble opinion, they don't know 'jack'. Something along the lines of 'I'm surprised at East's choice of gear. IMHO, I can think of far superior options.', should serve to keep hot callused fingers off the launch button.
Be nice.

I don't buy that for a second. One bass truly sounds and plays better than the other. The only exception to cost would be an American Fender Precision or Jazz, which would hold up to any bass.

I doubt if EC would accept the idea for a guest appearance in a future Fourplay album by performing a nice guitar duet with Chuck Loeb.

Though as a rock and blues guitarist Eric excels also in other styles of music such as country and jazz.
