similar question: Once my baggage was opened and now i don't trust the workers who transport the baggage from airplane to airport. I'll be flying soon and I want to take my bass with me. I don't have a hard case yet. As I said before, I would not like my bass to be stolen, or damaged, if the case gets opened somehow. It will obviously not fit in the upper compartment. Is there some way to transport it inside the plane without buying a seat for it? With that money for the seat I could just buy another bass or guitar.

Thanks in advance.

BTW i will before i fly check with the travel agency.

Guitars and other smaller musical instruments, such as violins, will be accepted as your free carry-on baggage on Delta operated flights1. These items must easily fit in the overhead compartment or approved stowage location in the cabin, on a space available basis at the time of boarding. If adequate space is not available, the item must be checked."

straight off the delta website. i think i will be able to carry it on but if worst comes to worst i'll check it.

also does anyone have anytips of what to do to the guitar itself. should i like just put it in the case or should i like wrap it in buble wrap?

------------

Quite personally, I use a Fender DX gigbag and it shelters a guitar very nicely. Its rather heavily padded too. The only problem is the Epiphone will hardly fit (I own an Epiphone Les Paul Std.) into one of these gigbags unless you shove it in there just so-so. But the bag is about as large as the guitar, so you should be able to pass it through there along with a few of your other essential needs (in the gigbag that is, its very pocket-happy).

Although, I hear Stienberger guitars (like the synapse) fit very nicely into small places as well. I should get me one of them... >_>
