Behringer is not the most expensive and makes good live equipment their mixers work very well. I am in a band that doesn't have a big budget either and we got a couple Nady THS 115 or something like that and they seem to project the sound very well. Mackie FR 800 is what we have for our power amp and don't get some 90 dollar power amp thats what we had and it blew at a gig luckily there was also a dj at that party and he hooked us up but that was a grace of God and rarely happens. Good luck on your search. Always look for used because if you can find something in good condition for cheaper than new then there is no reason to buy new.

For the not-too-much-money bit, I'm a big fan of Beringer's Eurorack series. And see if you can get a good deal on powered speakers and monitors. It's much more convenient than dealing with external amps.
