Hearing choppers and planes flying overhead for the past hour or so now.

Gray Honda CR-V being looked for - MA license 316 ES9 - could be part of the terrorist team.

Here's the thing, you can find stats and numbers that support both sides of the debate People not from the USA simply don't understand the gun culture of the USA. At the end of the day, no gun ban/regulation will stop criminals from getting guns. Columbine massacre was during the assault weapons ban from the 90's. No gun ban would have stopped Sandy Hook or Colorado shootings. Whoever thinks that an "assault" weapons ban will make a significant dent on gun crime needs to pass the pipe.

Back to Boston, being in Hawaii allowed me to watch live the events in Watertown (until it got really late and I need to sleep). Crazy stuff, I really wish they didn't kill the first guy, but it happened.

One of the two Chechen terrorists who committed the attack has been killed.

Appreciate the input but it's a good twelve hours old. Bear in mind that stateside, real time coverage of this event is available across the major broadcast outlets. I've been following things since 6 am EDT, and presently as I write. I'm listening to the accused's aunt being interviewed in Canada. She claims that she is an attorney. She's also an idiot based upon what she is saying, and either totally out of the loop or a follower in thought.

Lords, the whole world is a village.

These things should not happen anywhere. Are tragedies that should give us pause...

There are many in the US who feel that there's too much 'pause', little or no 'action', and have had it with their hard earned income going to taxes which support'the village' financially, especially running the deficit we are.
When you have the father and the aunt of the suspects publicly suggesting that these perpetrators were 'framed', you can appreciate why.

Corner of School and Arsenal Streets (Watertown) now being searched house-by-house. There are some thick woods nearby and if not captured/caught be dark, it could get even more suspenseful.

Just found pipebombs scattered around Cambridge that are being dismantled.

I was misread and then misquoted. Read the post.

If I were you, I wouldn't brag about having no terrorism at all in your country or else maybe you'll give someone the idea they overlooked you or it has been so long you've forgotten.

We've had the Bali bombings over here in '04. Bali being the no1 holiday destination for Australians. 200+ people killed. They weren't motivated to do it because they hated Vegemite and Steve Irwin.

When I reach the level of paranoia that posting on an obscure guitar forum might alert terrorists to the fact they've overlooked my tiny wedge of the planet, then I'm really in trouble and should probably buy myself some guns.

I wasn't talking to you directly. Primarily it was meant for Blertles posting from New Zealand where they never have any terrorism bombings either, but yet they did actually have a pretty major one he may have conveniently forgotten. But to anyone posting that terror bombings are uniquely an American problem because of guns and right wingers, if the shoe fits, feel free to wear it. The Boston bombs were more of the usual radical Islamic extremists carrying on their Jihad against the USA and I'm pretty sure they are not "right wing nutzos" or even moderate Republicans.

The sinking of the rainbow warrior was actually terrorism against Greenpeace, Not New Zealand. The ship at the time, happened to be docked in Auckland as we are a major strategic maritime port for the South Pacific. This was ordered by the French Secret Service because the rainbow warrior was going to protest on location at Moruroa atoll where nuclear weapons testing was held. Anyway.. Yes it took place in NZ, however not aimed at NZ.. It was aimed at a non-profit organisation (based in Netherlands) who just so happens to support a nuclear free policy like NZ does. As far as France is concerned, both countries are allies, which will not change & as actuall fact- the French are much loved by us & always have been.

Interesting you brought that up, however I'm not going to get in a debate.

These events are horrible and despicable, but with all due respect, "the radical Islamic extremists carrying out their usual jihad" has not yet been proven.
I am devastated by the carnage and injury and fear caused by these terrorists; what is especially chilling are the reports from their peers who are completely at a loss to reconcile their memories of the two brothers with their violent actions.
I have friends in Boston and my thoughts are with them - and all Bostonians - in these terrible times.

Press conference just ended...he got away on foot and they don't know where he is...but lockdown is lifted and warning to be vigilant and if you see him call 911.

They DO *think* he'll still in the area, but go on with your life with additional police patrols.

He/they were NOT involved in 7-11 robbery and just a coincidence that it happened while he was caught on surveillance footage.

He/they WERE invloved in MIT cop murder and other (BU?) cop shooting.

I don't feel safe...but I guess that's just how it rolls...

No more briefings from authorities scheduled.

They DO believe that he's still on foot in the area...and is extremely dangerous.

Police have "someone" surrounded in a boat in a Watertown backyard...some reports say it's the suspect and he's "pinned down".
