Most good music affects me emotionally in one way or another, but here is a list of the top songs that effect me in a more melancholy way.

Sweet Child O Mine - GNR
Fall to Pieces - Velvet Revolver
I'm Leaving - Taxxi
Mirage - Santana
Look Up to See What's Coming Down/Just in Time to See the Sun/Song of the Wind - Santana
More than a Feeling - Boston
I'm so Afraid - Fleetwood Mac
Melissa - Allman Brothers
Muzzle - Smashing Pumpkins
Everlasting Gaze - Smashing Pumpkins
Wish You Were Here - Pink Floyd; in fact, most post-Sid Pink Floyd, which seemed to be laced with agony over the loss of their friend.

Ian is definitely a rocker , but has several slow and melodic songs with great lyrics.
And since we are dragging Ian into this  my choice would be The Outsider.

I will undoubtedly think of more later, but that's all for now.

I know what I forgot:

Close to the Edge, by Yes

Probably not something you would expect, but for some reason it really moves me.

Blue Eyes Cryin' In The Rain - One of my Mom's favorite. She always asked me to sing it for her.

The Old Rugged Cross - One that my Mom and I use to sing together when I was young.

My Mom passed away a couple of years ago, so although these songs have always had special meaning for me......they mean even more now.

I remember this You Tube clip from a Chet Atkins concert (from back in the late 80's). He came out on stage wearing an old hat, suspenders, and looking like someone's grandpa. And then proceeded to bring the whole entire audience to tears... Look for Vince Gill and Mark Knofler in the clip too.

Two songs that really get me are Life by the drop by SRV, and Angel by jimi hendrix.

If im in a frustrated mood or angry i like to listen to Break Stuff by limp bizkit or Walk by Pantera.

Dave.

Still crazy after all these years - Paul Simon

Always gets me that one, lovely chords and just tugs at the heartstrings

Arjay
I'll go along with this one, Arjay. Thirteen months in-country over forty years ago and it's all still there in the back of my mind.

Man, there's a long list of these for me... However, the short list is:

"Start Livin' Life Again" Skynyrd.

"Ready To Fly" Skynyrd

"Simple Man" Skynyrd

" Fall of the Peacemakers" Molly Hatchett

" Seven Days" Kenny Chesney

"Where I Grew Up" Kenny Chesney

" Didn't I?" Montgomery Gentry

" Valentine" Martina McBride

" Life Without You" Stevie Ray Vaughn

" The Wall" Kansas

" One Known Soldier" Allen Collins Band

That's all I can think of at the moment.

Almost forgot: A lot of old Willie Nelson gets me, like "Angel Flying Too Close to the Ground" and esp his cover of " Wind beneath my Wings"- which was played at my Grandpa's funeral. ( he was most definitely my hero)
