I've heard rattlers in RMNP but never a bear. Yeah, that would make me nervous too. Isn't the view from the top of Trailridge just amazing? The park and Estes are about my two favorite places. Pearl St. in Boulder's pretty cool too.

I've encountered rattlers but not yet heard any. Estes Park is great. How many hours we stood camera's aimed waiting to catch mountain goats. Oh well. ;)

The view from Trailridge is amazing as is Pike's Peak (though I dislike the long cograil ride to the top). I now don't like Blue Lake (southeast CO). It is a lake/reservoir in the middle of the plain - no trees, lots of wind and sand, bugs. And, although it has rebounded from drought conditions, it is still difficult to launch a boat for fishing.

First off... where did that spider jump on a screen. What city or state please. Wow thats just gnarly man. If I lived there my screen would have a bunch of 9mm holes in it or maybe birdshot holes
I posted earlier here and said high action scared then I realized that I'm about twice as scared by high prices. In fact high prices scare me away on a regular basis.

When I was much younger I had a bad case of Non-Acrophobia.

Acrophobia is the fear of heights. Non-Acrophobia is the fear of not being high........

This is in Colorado. To be exact, it is a burrowing wolf spider (Geolycosa Lycosidae). They dig holes in the ground (about 1/4-1/2" diameter) and sit there waiting to pounce on their prey - sort of like trapdoor spiders. I think they're beautiful. As long as not in the house I have no problems with them. Had one jump in the front door when opened (it was huddled against the door for heat at night) and I spent a few minutes convincing it to go back outside with its front legs raised in battle preparation. For the size, they are fast. These aren't slow tarantula-like spiders - these are athletes. And they have a poisonous bite but non-lethal. Like many things in Colorado, nice to look at but don't mess with it.

I lived in Durango for a couple of years and I didn't see anything like that. That thing is huge. What does it eat... birds and mice and stuff?
