The seller does state that it's a Squier stratocaser.

Looks like a Squier with an aftermarket Fender neck. Seems fair enough.

He did give disclosure and the price is in line. I see no harm/foul here.

As always, this is merely IMO where YMMV.

It has fender custom shop sticker on the neck so I see intent to deceive

But he's labeling it as a Squire essentially a "Custom Shop" strat, which doesn't exist. Also, even if that's okay, it states it's a USA made Fender Squire. As far as I know, Squires aren't made in the US, so it's deceiving to someone who doesn't know. It's a Fender Starcaster headstock with the logos changed. It's deceiving. A used Squire going for a brand new Squire price? Doesn't seem right either.

I guess my problem is it seems that even though he advertises it as a "Squire" it appears like he's selling it as a "Custom Shop" guitar. Though Squires existed in '89, the Custom Shop did not. In the least, he seller could've labeled the post more clearly.

He labeled it as Squire with custom neck...never mentioned it as a custom shop guitar...think your maybe splitting hairs on this one.

I believe if a potential buyer even knows what custom shop guitar is ... then he prolly also knows the price is not in line with a real c/s neck and would not be deceived into thinking he found the buy of the century. Regardless of the original intention of the c/s sticker the price point proves the seller is not out to rip off some unsuspecting noob to the guitar world.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

It is a little slippery for sure....
Obvious Decal change on the front with Made In USA is part of that replacement decal...
He got the CS decal at the same time... but isnt cheeky enough to list as such....
Im fairly certain Squire guitars have never been made in the USA........

This kinda thing is annoying, but it has been said....no harm , no foul...
Its not like he is trying to get $2000 for it....
I wouldn't get involved in all that shenanigans, but thats me....

Kingman 44 , your concern is appreciated. Craigslist has been reported it seems like 2 or 3 years ago, the observers are in amazement that so many people are still willing to take that chance. I stopped looking at craigslist after the last gear robbery by a craigslist musician. About 2 years.

You'd be surprised, actually - There were a few USA Squiers made in 1989 and 1990. Cheap tuners and pickups, but otherwise really nice guitars.
