Everything stated here is merely my opinion.

I love Slash's music so much. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eoSFhHAh-vw

I think he is one of the greatest of all time. Nobody sounds like him. For me, it's the way he slightly underbends and sort of wails--really makes the guitar sing like no other. I'm not saying others are not equally great with their styles, but Slash can just bring me to tears with the Sweet Child solo and so many others.

Dude has rocked out on the international stage for 30 years.

I'm tired of people saying he's "overrated" because it's cool to say that.

Show me a solo as simply beautiful as it fits the song as Sweet Child. In my opinion, there are not many.

He's sloppy, his intonation on bends is appalling, and his tone grates on my ears.

That said, I think he's great.

He epitomises the spirit of rock in ways most virtuosos could only dream of, and I would not change a thing about him. Rock on, Mr. Hudson, rock on.

I like Slash just fine but I think it mostly comes down to a matter of taste once you hit a certain skill level. The way you describe his playing is similar to how I feel about John Frusciante.

Too bad he and Axl are both too stupid to put aside their egos and sell out arenas again! Niether will be a fraction as successful solo or with any other band as they would be together.

They could even just pretend to get on with each other for all the money they would make!

Slash is easily identifiable with his chops and greasy tone. That's huge.

I wish Guns/Roses would have broken up after their debut album.

Slash is resolutely a Les Paul guy but he's also a notable Mock abuser.

This bad boy plays the EDS-1275 with virtuosity!

The 1967 EDS-1275 is one of the few doublenecks he owns. Slash has three Guild Crossroads models and a BC Rich doubleneck Bich among others.

Not all of his Mocks are floyded and active. Some employ a tunamatic bridge and sport passive electronics.

Don't mind GnR, some drive-worthy music, but if those vids are their idea of funny, it's as well they didn't try and make it on the comedy circuit.

Maybe funny for 30 secs. Anything longer and they're the joke.

Those early BC Rich guitars and basses are some of the finest electrics ever.

Pretty sure Slash and Axl are way past the point where money is a motivating factor

Well, if money isn't a motivator maybe continued fame and relevance would be!

I suppose thats one way to look at it, however some people are content to just play without the fame and relevance...can't speak for these guys, as there seems to be ego's at work (especially Axl) From interviews I've heard with Slash, he's quite content doing what he does now, I pay no attention to the other clown.

Out, out brief candle! Life is but a walking shadow, a poor player, that struts and frets his hour upon the stage, and then is heard no more.
