Does FMIC store neck/fingerboard wood in climate-controlled environments to avoid fret sprout?

Ha - I love that vid! I believe that's a longer version of it than I've seen before: thanks for that, Bill.

If we compare it to the modern equivalent it's amazing how somethings have changed a helluvalot and some hardly at all:

No bare chests anymore, for one thing...

Cheers - C

We don't need no stinking computers, or ventilators, or goggles, or masks, or, or shirts! :)
I hadn't seen that film before. Thanks for posting.

I had a problem with fret sprout on an MIM Buddy Guy the year they were introduced. The purchase was relatively close on the heels of the marketing. Wasn't due to the atmosphere at home either.

That vid deserves to be in a thread all of it's own! Fred Fullerton: band saw, no guard, no pushers, ten fingers = legend. Nice!

......no masks/goggles/respirators in the spray booth...No OSHA guidelines in operation for protection in the work place.

One can see all the opportunities for lack of uniformity and consistency among guitars of the same type. Did they really build a better mouse trap back then worth $40-$60K on the vintage market now, or not?

I don't think the fret sprout problem will ever be solved in manufacturing. Even the boutique companies have problems with this. Wood shrinks..that's all there is to it.
