Hi,

Sorry if this is not in the right section.
So im kinda new to all of this, guitar wise.
And my uncle was cleaning up his attic yesterday.
And he saw this old guitar.
So he gave it to me.
Now I know there sum work on it, and the back strap is saying Fender but nothing else does.

I do see it needs some work, I posted a link to a picture of the guitar.
I don't know anything about it, so is it worth rebuilding it? Or getting it fixed?
Even if its not a Fender?
I personally don't think its a real Fender, seeing there's only the back strap wich is saying Fender.

What do you guys say?

Not a Fender. Sell on craigslist for $50 to a sucker. Save money and then buy this:

It looks like a '60s Japanese electric, posiibly one of several brands manufactured by the same company. There might be a niche market for it on ebay.

But this guitar is seriously nice. If you buy this, you won't have a distracting urge to upgrade for a while. If you buy a $120 starter kit crap guitar, then you'll feel a need to upgrade within 5 months.

+1

It appears to be one of several permutations sold by Teisco Delray back in the '60s. It *might* be worth a C-note to some collector but as a player, it has no real potential.

Some of those old Teisco pickups are great for slide guitar, so I wouldn't be too quick about destroying it...

...those pickups might be highly prized by some Texan who is anticipating a Slide-O-Caster build...hint, hint...

Might want to check this site out:

http://www.mark-cole.co.uk/teisco/

If it was me, I'd fix it up and play it. But then I'm a little odd.

When I was working for a local luthier last year, I had the opportunity to rewire a Teisco DelRay. It was a pretty cool guitar and had a really great, grungy sound. Don't write it off as a possible player.

Well, spoken, Bill. I, too, think you are a little odd, but that's one of the reasons I enjoy your posts! I don't think a guitar collector can call his collection complete unless he owns some variation of a Teisco. Here's mine:

Only a single pickup, but mint condition with original case and it works perfectly.

Personally, I'd probably pay $100 for the OP's guitar, working or not. And yes, I guess that probably makes me a little odd, too.

Agree it looks like a Teisco or first cousin. There are far better examples out there but they cost more.

It's a Teisco. See the headstock? There's a shadow of the crown badge for where it used to be. Not too valuable, but totally has potential. Keep it, it's definitely worth playing.

Thanks, I guess.

I'm still trying to figure what the guitar is that I am playing in my sig photo from the late 60's.
