I believe that I'm pretty much set at the Fender recommended heights, so I guess that would have to be a Medium Action.

Hey Chet,

I set my action a wee bit
higher than factory spec.
Mostly strumming out the tunes.

Cheers.

The Strat and the Tele are set with the neck almost flat, the action is right around factory, and the trem on the Strat is set slightly high so it can be better used both directions. The Gibsons are pretty much factory, although I tend to prefer the SGs ('61 and Bass) a little on the high side.

I have developed a light touch so I like mine set as low as I can get it with out buzzing.

3/64ths at the 12th fret...

LOW AS IT WILL GO BABY!!

I like my action 'medium'--high enough where the pickups don't affect the string vibrations but low enough that the output is still strong, and high enough where I can grab them for a bend if needed. I hate ANY hint of buzzing. I like my necks with a little bit of relief, so that the action is not too high.

Low. It's one reason they tend to go to a great tech for setup.

Just a little lower than the factory settings - so far.

As I try to get to be a better player, I might lower it some more.

When I was a beginner an old pro told me to go for the highest action I could stand. He reckoned more tone was to be found that way, and less buzz (obviously). Sort of a puritanical thing: we're meant to be making our fingers work.

The highest action I can stand is... pretty much factory set-up.

So nothing very unusual after all.

It's a different way of thinking about it, though, isn't it?

I wish more of you would give measurments so we know what you consider low and high.

My action is probably faily high .070"
For my playing style I need to be able to play with a lot of dynamics and dig in hard sometimes (ok a lot of the time).

I have no problem playing with extremely high action - but I noticed that my 6th string actually buzzes at high action. It's got that metallic-like sound, and I think the Octave is off.

I'm more into rhythm playing, not so much soloing. I like a little higher action. It defintely is more tiring, but I just can't stand fret buzz :x

I like mine low enough to where it doesn't buzz.
