How Do You Like Your Action Set?

I have developed a light touch so I like mine set as low as I can get it with out buzzing.

I like a low to moderate action, both without buzz of course. When I started to play guitar it was on a crappy old acoustic guitar with a bowed top, so the action was incredibly high and developed my finger callouses quickly. now I prefer a lower action.

ON my 10" to 16" compound radius Z-caster:

Relief: .005 at the 12th fret (capo'ed at the first fret, fretted at the 22nd).

Action: 3/64ths at the 17th fret.

Like Chet, I've learned that there is no point in playing an electric guitar hard... it sounds better played light and easy, and I can keep the action real low.

Like you, lite touch, low action w/o buzz. Drop down 1 octave tuning.

I keep my bass set as low as it goes. I'lll even tolerate some fret buzz, cuz you can't hear it over the distortion any way.

On my P-bass with flats, I play fingerstyle and it's as low as I can stand for minimal fret buzz.
On my P-bass with rounds, I play with a pick and I get sloppy, so it is high. But like GodBody said, the distortion helps to hide it. :)

I like my action low. My bridge is floating, but barely. When playing barre chords, a low action is crucial. When amplified even a little bit, no buzzing can be heard at all. When playing with very low amplification or none, I may pick up just a little bit of a buzz and then I back off a bit. Guitar's great but I'm not always. I played acoustic for years and I still play fairly hard, which is why my action's not even lower.

Low as I can get it without buzz. I HAVE MY TREM FLUSH WITH THE BODY OF THE GUITAR and not the 1/8 in. recommended (had a goodsetup man do it) I don't know what else he adjusted but it plays like butter no buzz and can still do dives although I hardly ever use the trem.

Thanks Chet, for bringing back some guitar talk to the forum, I was excited like a kid when I logged on and saw a whole bunch of good topics :D

My action is currently set to the fender spec's after I've had it in the store, but I'm getting the courage to try and do my own set-up

actually i like my action kind of high. when i'm rocking out i like the feel of crashing down on the strings more than a lower action. and i have no worries for fretbuzz

Pretty much the same for me. I like it somewhere in between a low and moderate height.
